Created a new label for the IPA.

I looked into it, and can only find the entry website for the fruit beers.
That was my understanding too... there are essentially two competitions.
One is a BCJP competition which is limited to category 23 (3 bottles required).
One is a peoples choice 2 case of beer or 5 gallon keg required.

Was that a label design already or did you design that yourself? It's cool, I don't like where the name is at the top, too congested imo. Maybe a different color font would work better for me

Designed myself. I tried different colored font and it didn't look right. Keep in mind that that is a low res proof. The actual label is higher resolution.
I tried different color combinations for the font and nothing seemed to work. Black contrasted too much, and White on green did not work as well. Tried different color green fonts, and that did not work either. I just ordered them. Also, i'm only able to use microsoft paint to make these labels. So it's a bit of a chore to make one worth a shite using only microsoft paint.
I think i enjoy making labels as much as i do brewing.
I'm making a honey kolsch also, and these are the three images i'm thinking of using(bee puking is my fav).

I might send off this latest batch of 100% Brett pale ale to a competition. It isn't as tart as the last batch but has huge run away citrus going on. My concern is that I've had some issues with the shipping process causing the carbonation to kick up in my Brett beers. It doesn't always happen but it would be disappointing to get feedback that it gushed all over judges

I'd change Grain to Malt and capitalize Baton Rouge and Louisiana.

I'm excited to see the new BJCP guidelines in June.
I really hope they add a farmhouse/brett/wild ale category so these beers can be judged fairly.

I like it. Only concern would be the names showing up in green on the green. How is it printed?

Love the label.
I'd leave the font and color of the text alone, but would probably change the opacity of the background slightly to fade it to the background and make the text stand out a bit.

Did not realize that. Good to hear though.

it's already ordered.
Baton Rouge and Louisiana aren't capitalized on purpose. That picture is out of a botany book. I erased the scientific name, and replaced it with brewery name and location. I purposefully left the location uncapitalized to mimick how the botany book appears.
This is the original image.

Got you. Next time it should say St. George

They've been saying for years that there will be new style guidelines, but I recently read an interview with Gordon Strong and he confirmed that it will be released at NHC.
He also said there wont be a black IPA/CDA/Black Ale style in the new guidelines (BOOO!), but they will be creating a specialty IPA subcategory with guidance on some of the more common non-standard IPAs (Black IPA, White IPA, Belgian IPA).

I guess that's fine. Better than the 90 or so categories at world beer cup or whatever just came out.

Bottled just over 5 gallons of the latest version of my 100% Brett pale ale. This batch was hit with dry hops at 10 days and 5 days, both additions were 1 oz Citra & 1 oz Amarillo. Place your orders

Come on down.
Just added a vanilla, cinnamon and chocolate tincture to my porter primary after fermentation was complete. To make the tincture, I soaked 2 vanilla beans in 4 oz of vodka for a week; 3 cinnamon sticks in 4 oz vodka and 2 oz cocoa nibs in 4 oz of vodka. I added 1 tbl of cinnamon and 2 tbl of vanilla and chocolate. I'll taste it later tonight to see if I need to add more.
