He probably purchased plane tickets and hotel rooms for the whole CWS. People who aren't fans of either team attend the BCS National Championship too. People go to sporting events all the time for teams they aren't fans of.
I went to 4 Saints games last year, and have don't root for the Saints.

My nephews 12U travel ball team had their World Series in Omaha and all the kids and parents got to go to the games. So at least a whole team of Louisiana kids and their parents were in attendence.

the majority of LSU fans i talked to in Omaha, lived in Omaha. the LOCALS want to look the part so bad.
