Does it make you feel any better to know

that we got beat by the eventual champion UCLA in the opening game and that UCLA then beat UNC who beat us in our 2nd game?
For me it doesn't make it any better. It just makes losing feel all the more worse. I can't imagine how the players must feel knowing that UCLA just won the CWS by beating a Western Division opponent that LSU dominated in the regular season.

Not at all.
UCLA wouldn't have made it to Omaha if they had played in either the regional or Super regional in BR.

It doesn't make me feel any better or worse.
What makes me feel worse is that I'm forming a conclusion that college baseball has evolved into a game that is greatly dissimilar to minor and major league professional baseball. This dissimilarity will operate to draw fewer talented high school baseball players into the college ranks.
If a talented high schooler has any opportunity to go play minor league ball, even at the lowest levels, the incentive to choose college baseball instead has been entirely removed, because the college game is vastly different, due to the dead bats and different ball structure.
I'm not sure that any of this will serve to enhance the popularity of college baseball.

Agreed. And if the balls were more lively or the fences moved in, they wouldn't have beat LSU. Ibarra alone would have had two jacks that ended up being warning track flyballs.

Agreed....but at least a

didn't win it.

Makes me think:
-had we won that game, we would have won it all.

No,
they had a huge and unfair advantage over all other teams.
The FIELD was exactly what small ball teams needed.
They did not have to cover the deep outfield also good for their pitching style.
Not to take anything away-- they earned it, but they would have lost to LSU and Ms St in a normal field.

Huh? How is the current college game dissimilar due to the bats and ball structure? If anything the college game now with the bats and ball change is more comparable to low minor leagues.. High school players use the same bats as college guys they know exactly what the college game is. The choice to attend college or sign professionally has very little to do with that.. IMO

Slightly better... Is that what you wanted? Did you want to hear that?

In that outfield we could have had Katz in RF and Laird in
CF and Tyler Moore at 1B. It could have made a difference.

EXACTLY!
The Bruins' .227 batting average in the CWS also was the lowest since teams went away from wood bats.
So lowest since 1975.
Players need to get used to that...how bats perform like wood bats for professional baseball.
I never understood how players went from the trampoline Gorilla ball bats to the wood bats in the Minors/Pros in the 80's/90's.
It was like using a smaller rubber ball in CFB and then going to the NFL with a big leather ball as QB.
