TV executives and whiners who couldn't compete wanted the change. It's that kind of dysfunctional, selfish coalition that makes LSU and Florida play every season. Not that anybody thinks its "right," but that Mississippi State is scared they might lose Kentucky.

Indeed although it appears as though status quo is where we are going to continue to live....I'd put money on the fact that the balls change and the fences are moved in at TDA in the next 2 years (my guess would be fences moved in for 2014 and balls changed for 2015....just my best guess though).

I'll take the word of Sports Science over some guy on this board. No offense.

Im sure it was the NCAA, you know the people who make the rules.
So not the players and coaches and universities that participate in this sport. Usually when changes like this are made its because of a good reason like someone died on the field. Maybe im wrong but i don't know of a case of this since 2009. I guarantee you poll the coaches and players and you would come out with a completely different result.

When have players ever had a say in rules changes?
If you want to argue that the NCAA is a joke, i'm with you, but i dont think thats what we're arguing.

I'm telling you they're more concerned with ESPN getting stuck with a six hour game that pre-empts a Yankees game than they are about a pitcher getting killed. So of course ESPN loves it!

FIFY...pretty shortsighted IMO....but they could be right and he could be wrong...again I am all for changing the ball assuming it will stop the bitching and moaning.

I know the rules committee sets the rules , im saying if they would post a poll and just poll the coaches per say the result i think would be different.

I don't doubt that there are scientific experiments and tests that can produce those results....my question is why would Michael Roth lie?

Your team didn't suck arse. They lost, but they didn't suck arse. Losing 1-2 and 4-2 to a couple of the best teams in the nation is not my idea of sucking arse. They just got out played in a couple of games, which happens to every team in the tournament except for the winner.
The pitch following the Mason Katz HR we got outplayed from that point on. They had their lead runner on every inning for the remainder of the game. Our best hitters went like 2-32 with a handful of walks.
We sucked, it honestly looked like 3 LSU Tigers stepped off the bus ready to play.

You don't think television gets to dictate the rules?
Oh wait, it's me "just bitching about ESPN" so you don't have to entertain the notion? Answer the fricking question!
The reason this whole fricking thing changed was because of a 21-14 national championship game. TELL ME IM WRONG. You think ESPN wants a championship game that ends at 3 AM Eastern?

Yes, you're right ESPN made them change the rules.
Posted on 6/24/13 at 10:10 am to lsutigers1992
Bats changed because pitchers couldn't defend themselves. Not for TV.

Yes. You think they don't? Do you realize how much more they could sell commercials for compared to rerunning the 11 PM SportsCenter for the 4 time in a row?

When ESPN has MLB and the CWS at the same time, they've played 1, usually the CWS on ESPN2. I'm not sure they show MLB games, even Yankees games at 1030 on a Tues or Wed, so preemption would not be a problem.

Were the bats the problem or were the Andro'd up players the problem.
ESPN wants two things from the NCAA with this product:
1. A game that fits neatly in a three hour window
2. More involvement for regions with bigger TV markets
Dead bats took care of both.
And if they are really worried about pitchers protecting themselves, then why don't they stop North Carolina from riding Emanuel until his arm fell off? It's all hypocrisy. Protect them from a one in a million line drive to the skull but ruining their long term career in the process. But hey, they made millions off the pitcher. Why should he be allowed to make the millions himself?

yes, because you are blinded by hatred. no one disputes that TV is the tail that wags the dogs in a lot of cases, but considering the 21-14 game was in 1997 and they didn't change the bats until 2011, no it wasn't to avoid 3AM end times.
