I think the spectrum for middle class is very wide. Lower class are those that rely on goverment to support themselves. Middle class people can support themselves, but the range is wide between lower middle class and upper middle class.

So if you make 700K a year you aren't upper class?

I think your criteria for upper class is a bit strict

Depends on cost of living but if you make 250K a year in BR you're upper class

would a family of 4 making 70k be considered upper middle class in louisiana?

I think about 165,000 is considered upper class
