Ok maybe bustup was the wrong word. Um... frustration? Probably better.

best recent development: sanogo looks really promising and is already pretty good.
Yeah, he's actually the best young striker we've had since, hell, Adebayor? We've had a dearth of top quality strike talent coming through the ranks, as we always seemed to be waiting for RvP or Eduardo to get healthy, waiting for Adebayor to be less of a count, and waiting for the marginally talented Bendnter to put it together.
Hindsight being what it is, we should have bought a young striker to groom when Adebayor left.
That said, I'm excited about Sanogo. I'm unsure about his technical prowess, as he seems adequate from what little I've seen, but I don't know if he's the younger, blacker version of Giroud yet, or if he's a striker who can create his own shot. Hell if he's a striker who can run beyond the CB's occasionally, or make space for himself with a clever run inside the box, or if he's a striker who doesn't scuff the numerous chances he gets a game, then he'll be an upgrade on Giroud, who is good at build up play with his back toward goal, but rarely turns, which is extremely odd for a target player. Supposedly one of the top target players in the world.

I've decided I want kroos. Break the bank. He'd be perfect to play the pivot with Ramsey.

Yeah he is an absolutely fantastic player. Christ he was killing us with his passes.

Yeah and I want to win the powerball.

Ozil played great until the red card and you can't judge him after that. He's not a defensive player, he's not a pressing player. We knew that when we signed him, he'll try but it's not in his DNA. That's why Ramsey worked so well with him.
We're a good team not a great team. He came from a great team tailored to his strengths. With Walcott and Ramsey out we literally don't play to any of his strengths at all. Hopefully wenger realizes this and addresses it in the summer

Song to leave Barca in the summer
Buy him back, Arsene! I would do it without a second thought.

plz no. we don't need him. we need to replace arteta/flamini, not another person in the rambo/jack/ox position.
Posted on 2/20/14 at 9:23 am to Friend of OBUDan
If we get him to be more positionally aware I think he can play that role better than both Flamini and Arteta.
Posted on 2/20/14 at 9:34 am to cwil177
that's not an easy task. i don't think he could do as good a role as either of those imo. i want someone more mobile back there, personally. quickness and stamina have never been his thing.
he's a squad player on a great team. he was afforded more freedom due to our desperation, but he really isn't starter material in either position if we're trying to be one of the best clubs in the world.

I would take him back. He hasn't burned the bridge like Adebayor, Cole, or RVP.

true. but he also isn't as good as any of those players.
i like the guy, i just don't think he's good enough if we want to be one of the best. we have the funds to get better players now.

I don't know if I want him. It could be because I feel burnt. These guys progressed under Wenger and bolted. Really I liked that he could play cb when we were extremely thin on the defensive line. God I forget how bad our d was. We were in shambles. Kosc, Gibbs, mert, vermaelen, sagna have all been hurt. When you got to play Santos and squilachi you are in deep shite. He was valuable because we had nothing else. Now we can spend some money on better players.

Yeah Song would be a step in the wrong direction. I don't know how much money Arsene is looking to spend in the summer (or who will be available) but there will be a lot better players than Song.
I do think that he could be a great buy value wise. Barca might be able to get back half what they paid for him, which would be a good bit of business for Arsenal.

Hi guys.
I'm going to be in London in April and am going to try to attend the Arsenal v Newcastle match.
Any chance I can walk up and get tickets day of game, or should I join the Arsenal membership/club beforehand and try to get them that route? Anyone else have experience with attending a match over there recently? Thanks for the help.

I just can't shake the great memories of Song sending balls over the top to be volleyed by RVP.

i'd go the membership route to be sure.

He definitely had some quality moments, but his all around game is a bit overshadowed and overrated due to those "highlights."
Arsenal need to add a holding midfield presence that can compliment Ramsey, as I assume he is the preferred choice in the other midfield role. If that is the case, an athletic defensively committed and positionally aware player would be the way to go.
The first name that comes to mind is Pogba, but that is beyond wishful thinking. Luiz Gustavo from Bayern was a good shout. Other people seem to like the Bender brothers, but I am not that high on them..yet. I think Axel Witsel, off playing in Russia, could be a good fit (I saw him a little at Porto and with Belgium) but that would be an experiment. João Moutinho is a guy that would be a good fit, though he doesn't bring the physicality that Arsenal would surely appreciate.

There is an Arsenal ticket exchange on facebook. You might want to try that. People sell their tickets on there even on the day of the game. I almost got some that way. just make sure you do everything in person at the gate so you don't get ripped off.
