re: Arsenal 2013/2014 Season Long Thread

interested to see what kind of move we make with beowulf out injured for a few weeks. i think arsene may have stood pat if he had been healthy. now i think he might make a move. morata on a short term loan with no option to buy makes very little sense, honestly, but we're desperate for depth. trying to snatch berba on the cheap could be a spectacular signing (because the dude still has talent) or could blow up in our faces. the thought of bringing that personality into our current squad somewhat scares me. not sure any other good-enough-to-be-worth-it strikers are out there.
saturday's lineup should be interesting. i really really really don't want to lose to Spurs at home.

I am leery of this move. The talent is still there, but I am with you on the chemistry issue.

I think both teams put out as good as squad as they possibly can. Looking forward to a good one.

I think Berba as a stop gap would be great. I wonder about what his wage demands would be though.

I'll pass on Dimitar, much as I love his ability. I just think he could frick up a locker room like that.
Morata on loan, buy one of Juve's strikers for sale, or splash cash for a star.

vucinic and quagliarella do nothing for me. we'd be better off playing poldi or theo for a couple of games waiting for beowulf to get fit rather than wasting money on either of them.
there's no star available. no hope in january for elite reinforcement. we have enough to potentially win it all, if we get healthy.
i really want us to get crazy and play ozil as a false 9 with poldi/theo flanking and santi playing centrally

giroud's ankle is better but he's sick. özil has a late test. Rambo and gibbs out. ox a week or so from full training.
zelalem may make his arsenal debut tomorrow

Great for him, but Spuds midfield will physically be too much for him, I think.

ozil was in training...pretty decent chance he plays tomorrow. guessing that means no zelalem starting.
i'll be a little upset if we see the arteta-flamini pivot again, but considering jack's touch and go health, i'm sure we will see it.

anyone have any idea who no. 16 is in this pic?

I have a question that I've been meaning to ask and seeing this pic just made me remember. Why and how do these guys not wear shin guards in practice? Is it just a given that they don't go all out so there is no chance that they will get hit there? Wouldn't it make sense to practice with the gear that they will be wearing in the game?
I stopped playing when I was 13, so I never go to the level where you don't just wear your full gear to practice.

yes! i thought for a second but hadn't seen anything about him training with us. i shouldn't have second guessed my instincts

Would LOVE this.

based solely on poldi's movement and play as a CF for us in the handful of matches he's started there and ozil's one match as the false 9 for germany, i'm pretty sure we'd be more fluid offensively than with

i guess my thought is, if we're going to have to adjust our offensive strategy due to striker injury, why not fully adjust and put our best attacking players in the positions where they're most likely to wreak havoc.

They probably don't have much contact and they're annoying. I never wore them at practices, only in games

So do the Arsenal threads always get this big or is this due to recent 'success'

generally this big. us and 'pool have the largest following on the board by far

Ah I see. Yeah they usually have big support groups although most of them don't sing the songs or really get into it than just sit there and watch.
This is coming from me who's seen most of the AFC/LFC/MUFU supporters group from Houston to Dallas.
