Since January he's played really well. Arsenal fans were assholes to him for a while. Wilshere is going through a rough patch of form himself right now and there's barely been any criticism. Those rough patches are pretty normal for young players, but Ramsey got a hell of a lot of shite last year. Glad Wenger stuck with him.

Wilshere is starting to remind me of Dempsey. He plays on my team, but at the moment he isn't playing well enough for me to ignore the fact that he is an a-hole for the most part out there.

Does the saved shot count as an assist?

A few thoughts on the game:

- Good to see Gnabry debut. He looked competent. Nervous at first, but eased into the game. I like what I saw.
- Love seeing Arteta back. Flamini has been very good, but Arteta gives us so much more.
- Gibbs is working his arse off. He has little support down the left but is grinding and playing well.
- Ozil didn't quite have the magic today, and he still got 2 (or 3, see above questions) assists. That's good.
- Most importantly, we are getting results while missing huge chunks of our squad. Today, we were without Theo, Podolski, Cazorla, a fully fit Arteta, Ox, and TV didn't play, and we still got a nice win. I like our depth when we heal up.

I thought he was easily our best midfielder today creatively. Ramsey put in a shift and got the goal, but Jack was the only spark we had moving forward consistently.

Top of the table, with a lot of guys coming back. Us, City and Tottenham are the best teams right now. I expect Chelsea to settle in and be in the discussion.

Let's just savor where we are at the moment...

it is only going to get better. I LOVE this team.

I can seriously hear you fapping through the internet. Stop. It's gross.

Also, Piers is quite the funnyman.

I liked what I saw from Gnabry, but I wish he was a different type of winger. He asks for the ball to his feet, while Theo's best quality is his ability to move without the ball. Gnabry often ended up in central positions, which crowded the middle and made us mostly toothless in open play. We really don't need another player who asks for the ball to his feet, so he can face the game head on, and then simply pass it backwards because there is no space.

Also this first 11 looked tired the whole game. Really can't wait until we can rotate.

I don't want to kill the Gunnar vibe, but just as a hypothetical question:

Let's say Giroud's form drops off or he gets injured. We all know Beowulf isn't the answer going forward, so who does Wenger target in the Winter window for positional competition/depth?

I really though he missed out hard on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Maybe we could get someone like Seydou Doumbia, though he will be pretty expensive. We missed out on a ton of strikers. I don't know who we will target thought. Hopefully Sanogo will work out. Wenger has belief in him.

i was sleeping off a nice hangover Sunday morning so I'm about to watch the match replay. saw @Orbinho tweet something about Gnabry having completed way more passes than Theo normally does in a negative-towards-Theo tone. i think you explained it perfectly though. we need a different type option. theo pairs really nicely with our other pieces.

i haven't even watched yet, but judging from watching the CL match, i don't doubt it. this will be so important. Flamini has been great for us, but one downside re: rotation, we can't really afford to play he and Arteta together. that cuts down on the MF combinations. i just hope we don't have a burnout injury before Santi and Poldi make it back.

just a sidenote, it annoys me how much @Orbinho (arsenal fan who is high up with Opta) doesn't seem to understand the context of the stats he provides.

Why is that? I think they could pair nicely together, and would allow Arteta to move more forward.

I saw him play when Pastore was at Palermo, but not since. I will try to tape a game and watch him.

i think Arteta's lack of athleticism would be a hindrance there IMO. not as much explosion into attack and i think it would really expose us defensively. the current combo works now because rambo and jack can recover quickly.

clearly, arteta's offensive skills haven't left him. with Flamini there, i wouldn't mind seeing him play no. 10 (if Santi is still out and Ozil needs a breather). i just don't think he has the legs to play Rambo's role at this point in his career.

Maybe, but we did pair Song with Arteta for a whole season, and neither of them are very fast. They both would be rather disciplined defensively, which can allow the fullbacks to have more cover, and would make us rely less on our wingers coming back and helping with defense. I wouldn't mind seeing it.

Oh I definitely think our midfielders prime locations are

-------Ozil/Rosicky------
-Arteta/flamini--Ramsey/Wilshere--

listed as first choice/sub and obviously the Arteta/Flamini are holding/defensive and jack/rambo are box to box.
