Go try it. Most of them offer a few free classes so you can decide to do it or not.

First off, they don't push you to your max. You start off doing half of the work outs, or less, depending on what kind of shape you're in. Second, the coaches practice with you before every work out to make sure you ARE doing the right technique. Tertiary, you can do as much or as little weight as you want. I do a moderate amount of weight and focus on the calisthenics.


I work out at Hurricane CrossFit. Yes, they do push you to do more and work harder. I like that.
