Breg's error was costly but not so much on Ross'.
Ross's throw was too much toward the second base side of the bag. Our second baseman was NOT hustling to back up the throw. He relaxed and did not get into the position he needed to be in to backup that throw. It was a weak effort on his part and it cost us big time. No doubt he should have been in better position especially considering the throw was errant to the second base side.

First time in a while I've actually seen a pitcher (Plutko) pound the top of the zone, purposely. He was challenging our hitters to hit it out and all we could do is hit pop ups EVERYWHERE
Although youre right in that he was purposefully throwing up in the zone, we werent hitting only pop ups. In a normal situation, LSU hits at least 4 HR's last night.

the 2 big errors of course, but raph rymes should have take a couple of pitches on that last at bat. has hit into too many double plays this year.

Baseball has fences for a reason. If pitchers make mistakes they should be penalized. The new bats have basically hurt power hitting teams and rewarded the bad hitting teams. How is that fair?
Really? My opinion is that they should go to wooden bats
Want to play in the big leagues? Start preparing. Want to hit
home runs? Swing the bat harder. Rewards "bad hitting" teams? As in teams that can hit doubles, singles, etc instead of relying on the long ball all the time??

I have no problem with the new bats, but if you want to keep the game of college baseball interesting, you have to bring the fences in

3. Bregman (Errors happen but there is no excuse for not getting in front of the ball in that situation.
You ever play short or second? Bregman was screened by the runner until the last portion of a second. He could tell direction off the bat, but without constant eye contact on the ball it gets really tough to know how the bounce is going (long, short, top spin, bottom spin, skipping, bouncing, one bounce liner, etc.) the ball will do 100 things off the bat.
That momentary screen caused him to only be able to throw leather at the ball. It was a way tougher play to make than what it looked like. Was it playable? Yes but to say there is no excuse is exhibiting a basic misunderstanding of the position.
And before you say he should have moved toward the ball/plate/ changed angle of attack - remember the runner was right there and if there was contact between the two it would have been interference on the SS.

Not pinch running for Katz in the 9th and not pinch hitting for McMullen in the 8th baffled me. Then Raph swinging away with no outs and a 2-0 count down only one got to me.

Errors & hitting. What happened to our offense?

The team. All around effort and shouldn't be placed in anyone specifically. Bats were dead, a couple bad plays in the field, and questionable coaching decisions.

Well I'll just go to the grave pissed off at the fact Ross's throw was a play which should have EASILY been backed up by 2nd.
Then, even after not hustling to get into position, he half assed the attempt to glove the errant throw.
If, some say Breg should have moved his feet more, then JJ should have been in position as well.

Perhaps it was me (and i didn't review it), but it appeared the UCLA 2nd-baseman didn't actually touch the bag on the double-play. But umps will generally call it an out if it is somewhere close.

bullshite! It was NOT a hard play nor should a runner screening you be an issue.(which I believe is bullshite anyway)
I played a lot of SS in my life and you could say that about every play a SS has to make with a runner at second moving to third. NO EXCUSE....
and if you want to get more picky he should have never let it take that second bounce. He should have been charging the ball instead of playing back on it. Ball can get a crazy top spin when hitting the dirt like it did. All in all a terrible fundamental play by him. I will even go as for to say ask him what he thinks, with his work ethic and competitiveness I am sure he will say the same!

Normal rules don't apply to Johnny Baseball.
The whole team pretty much sucked last night. PM didnt earn his paycheck.
But Bregman is the only one to pull some mess like that.

This is such BS it's not even funny. Mason Katz looked a little league 1st baseman. He never left the bag, instead he stretched, just letting the throw go. HE SHOULD know better than that. Blaming that on Jones is crap

Man I'v been saying this same thing. Now if you make a bad pitch you likely get rewarded with a long out at the track. And I'm not just complaining about this for LSU. State should have gone down to a walk off Saturday. Its ridiculous now.
The CWS has lost all of it's magic because of the new bats. I used to watch every game in the series that was on TV because you never knew what was going to happen. Now I can't stand to watch anyone but LSU, and even watching the Tigers is like pulling teeth sometimes. Bottom line is that game is being killed because of the bats, the high laces on the ball, and TD Ameritrade being too pitcher friendly.

This ucla team is bush league and LSU straight up CHOKED.
I got so sick of the announcers blowing LSU and watching this weak arse team dink and dunk us. We were punished by the new park as we should have had 3 homers.
It was frustrating watching batters keep trying to blast out high fastballs and that is poor coaching at the plate.
If anyone tells me before the game Nola has 0 earned runs I don't even entertain the idea we lose.
Looks more like the goal was to get to Omaha. Maybe next year the goal is to win it. I know the last comment was trite, but I'm just really pissed losing to a shitty team.
