Ok seriously, who the hell is going to see this?
i like Johnny Depp as much as the next person but this just looks bad. I saw an interview on TV last night with a critic who predicted this could be the Waterworld/John Carter of 2013.
And a sidenote, who the hell is Armie Hammer and who the hell names their kid Armie Hammer? I almost dont want to see it just because of his name.

I get the feeling Disney went overboard on this one turning it into a drama/comedy like Pirates of the Caribean
Lone Ranger probably should have a more serious tone and I'm not sure that's what Disney is going with.

I dont think its a good sign that nearly all the trailers are now showing Depp as little as possible.
The one that I did see him featured in was way early on in an extended trailer and he pretty much sounded like Jack Sparrow in a Tonto outfit.

Won't be seeing this.
I didn't like the tone of the previews and I've never been a Johnny Depp fan so....

John Carter was NOT a bad film.

I doubt I'll see it, but I could see it being fun/popcorn-ish.

Per 100,000+ votes on RT, America says otherwise.

The trailers have just looked awful. Someone also mentioned that a shite ton of money was spent for CGI for this movie, which just scream bad to me as a Western.

Not a chance. Looks like a huge POS. I loved The Lone Ranger movie when I was a kid (and looking back, it was pretty bad ), so I'd imagine the new generation of kids will love it too.
It's sad how the Hollywood machine works though. You could do a really good LR film and not have Johnny fricking Depp near it.

I want to see it but it's not making back its budget. $250 million for a Western is a joke.
This generation's Brenden Fraizer.

Interesting side note:
quote:
Hammer owned a considerable amount of Church and Dwight stock in the 1980s and served on its board of directors. The company's brand name, Arm & Hammer, did not originate with Armand Hammer. The Arm & Hammer brand was in use some 31 years before Hammer was born

The movie does look craptacular and Johnny Depp has sold out big time to Mickey Mouse.

I'll be seeing it.
I read an early review of it and it's tone is nothing like POTC. They said that pretty much all of the campy stuff is shown in the trailers to help well to the masse.
As for that $250 million budget... Didn't happen. Granted that's what they were going for when Dwight Yoakam was attached and werewolves were a main part of the plot, but all of that shite got shut down and the HoM decided to make just an action Western.
The review I read said that while Tonto has a rather big role, it was clear who the star of the movie was. Again the choice to feature Depp in the trailers/commercials was purely a marketing one. Who do you think is going to put the masses in the seats? Depp or Hammer? Exactly.
