John Carter was better than The Avengers.

I know some will agree with me here.

John Carter is a good movie.

I agree it is a good movie. The ending was killer.

I dont think its a good sign that nearly all the trailers are now showing Depp as little as possible.

I noticed that as well. I thought it was extremely odd.

Lone Ranger was horrifyingly bad. Depp couldn't take a step or pick up a cup without mugging for the camera.

If you ever enjoyed the Lone Ranger TV show, cartoon or comic, or anything having to do with the Lone Ranger and Tonto, stay away from this movie.

It's insultingly bad.

I thought that it would be an adventure/western with comedy here and there... but it's just a bad parody of a western.

John Carter was The Godfather compared to this.

I posted this in another Long Ranger thread and I stand by it....

I saw it last night. My 12 year old son loved it and I hated it.

My son had no expectations because he isnt real familiar with The Lone Ranger from my childhood. He laughed out loud a lot and said it was way better than he expected.

I, on the other hand, wanted a more gritty movie where the Lone Ranger really seems like a tough guy hero. The LR is a goofy wimp in this movie. It definitely was not True Grit or 3:10 to Yuma.

Its a remake of Pirates of the Caribbean set in the old west.

Bottom line...i think younger folks will like it but us old guys that grew up with The Lone Ranger will not like it....

could be the John Carter of 2013

Hopefully it'll be as good as John Carter but I doubt it.

You must not hang around these parts much. John Carter was a good movie.

I saw this POS tonight. It was bad.

Why can't they just make a real version of The Lone Ranger?
Why does Hollyweird feel the need to make a western a fricking cartoon. It was goofy and stupid and not even close to realistic in any sense. If they could just adopt the serious tone of Open Range or Unforgiven with a good story for the Lone Ranger, it could actually be a good movie. Very disappointing and I wasn't expecting much. On top of that it was approx 2 hours and 40 minutes.

What about any trailer made you think this would even REMOTELY be the case ?
