Pretty knowledgable.
That is a nice car and has some collectibility, but not much as the Pace Cars.
Value will depend on options, mileage, and condition (ever wrecked, paint work, etc)
Save every scrap of paperwork, titles, etc.
Once they get that old, value is subjective. I would think high teens, low twenties. Again, all dependent upon condition and options.

FWIW I had a two wheel drive 1999 F150 with the 4.2 V6, and it was slow as hell. Had no problems but I'd never again do a V6 bc it just had no juice and I still only got 15mpg.
I'm sure a new V6 is better but the 4x4 would be a heavier truck.

I have a 2012 F150 FX4 Super Crew with the Ecoboost,I get 18.5mpg and 16 mpg pulling my 5k boat at 70mph. Havent had a single problem with the truck other than rear leafs popping, those were replaced under warranty. You will be happy with the that motor.

Yeah it's DOHC, I had assumed other than the heads/valvetrain that most of the engine was the same. By no means an expert on this.
the new 5.0 is a totally different animal than the old 5.0..
nothing will interchange
