I think it's probably more for relating to the players and having a mix of guys on the staff. Monty should have no problem being the low man on the totem pole because Thibs and Coach K have been around forever. Bring in a more experienced coach and there might be friction over the #2 spot.
I don't like the backhanded compliments getting thrown Monty's way. Like its some charity case that he was offered this spot, and how much he can learn from Thibs. Maybe im forgetting all the championship rings Thibs has led the Bulls to, or his international coaching experience.
They could have literally handpicked any 3 guys on the planet they wanted for those spots and Coach K and Coangelo picked Monty. He's good at what he does and will bring real value to the team. He's not there to bow at anybody's alter. Especially not Thibs.

Is this your way of saying this is affirmative action at its finest?

o, I can't believe the OP missed the opportunity to headline the thread "CP3 to play for Coach Monty Williams Again"
Or how about "Racist CP3 Tolerates Playing Under White Mike K".

If he has Derrick Rose last year, this could be a very different discussion
How many people expected the Bulls to win any playoff games this year with no Rose or Deng and a banged up Joakim Noah?
I do somewhat agree with you about Monty. They wouldn't bring him on if he wasn't a great coach. But that doesn't mean he can't learn something from Coach K and Jim Boehim, both of which are arguably 2 of the best basketball coaches of all time on any level of competition

Im just talking about the feel i'm getting from people that Coach K, Boeheim and Thibs are actaully there to do the coaching while Monty's there to be bros with the players and otherwise sit in the corner and take notes.

I don't think anybody has brought up the notion that this will help Monty in his scouting of international talent as well as be able to see them up close in games to get a feel for the competitor's spirit.

Then Monty's Number 3b or 4.

how much he can learn from Thibs
Monty was an assistant for about 5 years before becoming a head coach, Thibs was an assistant for about 20 years before becoming a head coach. Monty would be the first one to tell you he can learn a lot from Thibs, especially since he's from a different coaching tree. That's not a slight at Monty that's just the facts. And I'm sure Thibs will learn things from his experience too, some of it from Monty.

I don't think anyone's saying that, but it's obvious he'll not be a senior assistant. Both his lack of skins on the wall and his humble demeanor will assure this.

It's ok to admit it buddy. It's really really ok. Money has won you over. There's no shame in that.
I really don't wanna rain on Monty's parade. Seriously.

I like Monty, but I think he has a lot to prove, I'm just willing to give him a reasonable amount of time and resources to do it.

Odds Monty makes it to the 2016 Olympics?
