Been using mono my whole life. All my buddies use braid. I've picked up one of their poles a couple times and every time that shite gets tangled like the dickens. I can't stand it. What are the benefits?

Zero stretch and you feel every bump under the water. I only use it on my worms and jigs. Crank baits and spinnerbaits, I like the stretch that mono gives.

If you fish a frog it's a must.
I use it with jigs & almost all topwater baits.
After you get use to it, it's easy to throw but be careful after you jerk it cause it will backlash like a bitch

I've heard a lot of people say they don't use it on spinnerbaits but I love it. Have a spinnerbaits rod and worm/jig rod spooled with it. Crank bait I always use mono

Make sure you use a braid compatible knot. Normal knots used w mono will slip. Watch your hands if you get a snag. Braid will give you one hell of a cut

I use braid for my top waters and Carolina rigs . I don't use it on jigs or worms but have buddies that do . I've always worried fish could see it in clearer water but that's just me thinking too much probably But these guys are right . The sensitivity and durability are far and away better than mono or Flouro . I use 65 pound power pro and never have any backlash issues . And it sounds pretty awesome when you hook into a fish

I don't have this problem

I can't tell you the last time one of my 12lb test mono lines broke. My knots are legit- its pretty damn hard to even break off a snagged line on the bottom.

Some people see it like this:
Freshwater = country boys & rednecks
Saltwater = Frat & yuppies

I don't personally use braid. Other posters have given legit responses as to what the difference is. my biggest reason is that i like having the pull.

I fish with braided of its someone else. Not a snob. I just don't use it personally.
