Time for the SEC to take away Alabama's annual guarantee game against Tennessee (Scarbinsky)
Meanwhile, while Alabama’s using its permanent cross-division game as a breather to prepare for LSU, LSU has to go through Florida before it even gets to Alabama. Auburn has to prepare for Alabama by climbing into the ring with Georgia.
Miles and the LSU administration have been lobbying for some time to repair this imbalance, but without much support from other schools in the league.
“The most important thing the conference has to do is pick a champion in a fair, straightforward way,” Miles said at a charity golf tournament Monday, according to The Advocate in Baton Rouge. “I think everybody understands that.”

Just about everyone does. Only two groups don't understand it and I'll give you 3 guesses who they are.

Right, bc there is no way Tennessee will ever be good again. I hate Bama as much as anyone but if UT had their shite together y'all wouldn't be bitching like this.

Tennessee won't be good again as long as Alabama and LSU are this good.
I'm glad this discussion is finally heating up around the country.

I don't think the OP or the author of the article was bitching. Simply pointing out that the scheduling isn't equitable across the board in the SEC.
It's more than just UT not being good. Bama will scream the "it's a rivalry to us" argument until they lose their voices. Why? Because it's a guaranteed W for Bama. (and an SEC win at that)
But like I stated, it's more than just Bama/UT. There needs to be a round robin scheduling format. Sticking with the permanent opponents is getting ridiculous, at this point. Even when we take care of business, magically Bama gets a redo. Now the chances of that happening again (Bama getting a mulligan) are slim to none but nonetheless.... it is not equitable scheduling for all other teams in the SEC, not limited to just LSU.

Me too. Long overdue.

If Ole Mass can have a respectable season with a first year head coach then follow it up with the kind of class they just signed, there is certainly hope for UT to be more than competitive soon. I'm just tired of hearing/reading about this crap. Fire Javi.

It's just getting started, like Boat said. Get used to it.

It does not matter how good or bad Tenn. Or any other team is right now. That misses the point of the argument. The system where teams don't rotate opp. Evenly can not be fair. Period! The system should be fair. Simple

It does rotate. You play one cross division rival and rotate the rests.
By the way:
Tennessee is (21-19-2) against Georgia
Average score: Tennessee 19.9 - Georgia 18.0
Florida is (23-19) against Tennessee
Average score: Florida 21.0 - Tennessee 20.6
I bet fla and ga wishes they didn't play tenn every year

Are you fricking stupid? No one cares about what happened 20 years ago. In the present, only one team is worried about not playing anyone. They are the same team claiming a mythical dynasty by playing two hard games a year.

We really don't need to hear from Bama fans on this matter. We've heard all of your arguments and find them lacking.

Jeez gump every one knows those games were mostly played decades ago. Alabama can come up with the weakest excuses . Ay least join the 21st century with your weak arse BS.

its the permanent rivalry thing that is unbalanced. While I understand the AL/TN thing, Missouri, aTm and others have no real long term SEC rival. Can't run a fair conference by catering to a few, whether it be Bama, LSU or Texas (Big 12 blowup).

Gump comments below the Scarbinsky article are a fun read.

Are you the only idiot your parents raised, or are there more?
Tennessee has more wins against Bama than anyone, and our rivalry is cyclical.
Before they started this current streak, we won 7 straight and 9 out of 10. It's their turn now. Ours will come again.

Miles needs to worry less about being a bitch about this stuff and more about managing a clock and passing the ball. This argumnent and debate needs to die.

What kills me is that Alabama's traditions are seen as more important as LSU's.
Alabama claims that they can't give up their annual game against UT because of their long tradion. What about LSU's long tradition of playing night games at Tiger Stadium? We were forced to compromise on that such that some seasons we may not have a single SEC game at night.
"It's not like you can't ever play games at night." they say, but it's not like we're asking that Alabama never play UT again. Just compromise on an old tradition just like LSU has had to compromise - for the good of the conference.

Like hell it does!
You seriously don't see how this hurts LSU?
If I said to my dog jump through this flaming hoop for your dinner, then said to your dog jump through these FOUR flaming hoops for your dinner, your response would be to beat your dog when it fails? Are you really that gullible?
