Pending what the PS4 looks like, I'd have to say that the current gen's designs were way better.

I think the current version of each console are pretty slick....the original versions not so much. I love my PS3 phat, but it isn't winning any beauty contests.
the xbox one does look pretty damn ugly though...IMO.

I want to be bale to integrate it straight in with my other home theater components, and it looks like I may be able to do that,

LOL... TV, Call of Duty, Sports, TV.
We want a gaming device not another TV box.

yeah, i don't understand why i would want to run cable through my game system?

I don't think the PS4 is close to a 7870 or the Xbox is similar to a 7790.
Whoever made that is pretty optimistic. Maybe drop down a series.

Is that worth a shite regardless? Like performance wise?

Far better than the current consoles. Far behind the top PC GPU's and really not even in the middle of the pack of PC GPU's

Yea it is.
It's really hard to compare though and say that this is = to this card because a gaming console functions different than a PC. Everything is proprietary and can do more with less usually. It's the reason the 360 and PS3 can still play the same games as PC for the most part though there are some limitations in those games that PC doesn't have.
If the current gen didn't have such low memory limitations they could do even more I think. The graphics aren't on par obviously but a console's graphics never will be.

Yea that's why I said no way that is = to the 7870 or 7790. That's a very optimistic comparison.

a generic 7870, maybe. def not a GHz ed
probably a 7850
im willing to bet the xbox is a 7770/6850 with more ram.
PS4 > Xbox in terms of pure gaming potential

The idea is that you just turn on your system and do everything through your X-Box.
The more your XBox is on and you are using it, the more money Microsoft is likely to make off of you.

The only thing they skimped on was the APU but I guess they had to save somewhere.

Maybe. And if so it will probably only be visible in console exclusives. Most publishers will do graphics for the lowest common denominator and just port them over to the other.
One interesting thing is that it should be easier to port games from the XBox to PC since their is a Windows Kernel running in there.

i dont see how its a maybe. xbox has dedicated more resources to the system and less to pure gaming output, they did this because they are clearly moving into the HTPC business.
