Yup. N64 and Gamecube were the most powerful consoles of their generation yet were outsold by weaker platforms. They opted not to go for power with the Wii and they outsold everyone. Exact opposite of their plans in the 90s and 00s.

Xbox was more powerful than the Gamecube and actually had games in HD.

But yes, it is true that the weakest console has won every generation for the past 5 generations.

They are already losing their grip on this and will continue to do so unless they start making cell phones and tablets soon.
