Pelicans.com Story

Pic of Bensons, Monty, Loomis
Various tweets about it so I linked the Pelicans official twitter. There are pictures there too but not much to see.
Facility is set to be done by late August.
50,000 sq. ft. / $16 million total
All together, Tom Benson has spent $31 million to build the Pelican's facility and enhance the Saints facility. It will be one large connected campus.

Gordon played through soreness at the end of the season and had the "cleanup" to make sure he gets the most out of the summer.
Tom Benson:

Benson joked that there will be no excuse not to win games. He looked around for Monty who had stepped away.

“It’s going to be a big difference,” Benson said. “We’re going to develop a fine basketball team, like our football team. From what I’ve seen, this is going to be the finest facility in the league. I don’t think anybody else has anything like this. This is second to none in the country.”
“It’s a monumental blessing,” said Williams, who walked inside the structure for the first time since construction began. “To see where we were just a year ago to now, it’s amazing to see how all of this has come together and what Mr. Benson has been able to do in a short period of time. I’m just really thankful for all of this, and where this is going to take our program. When you have a facility like this, couple with ownership, that’s going to be tremendous, to be able to tell (free agents) that there are no holes here. We have everything that all the players want – a facility where they can get better, a place where you can hang your hat permanently, a great city and a team that’s going to continue to get better every single year.”

I really want to see more pictures about how it is being integrated into the Saints facility, and some renderings.
But it really is awesome that they will FINALLY be out of that shithole on the Westbank. Really awesome.
And having the Saints and Pelicans players interact all of the time is a big bonus, IMO.

Exactly. This is what Monty Williams said about that:
quote:
Jennifer Hale ?@JenHale504 20m @PelicansNBA coach Monty Williams says the opportunity to share a campus w/the @Saints will breed a culture of winning in his locker room
I feel like it gives the team and organization TONS more legitimacy than we had before to really be connected and integrated with the Saints.

Drew Brees: Get that win tonight, AD
AD: Oh you know it.

Monty on proximity to Saints: "(You can) walk outside and see Coach Payton, Colston, Graham, Brees. I think that breeds a good atmosphere."

maybe this will only bring the saints down since they walk out and see aminu and IR gordon and brian roberts leading the 2nd units.

Will players follow the lead of the 3rd richest athlete in the world (Drew Brees) or will they instead decide to look up to a guy who's making big bucks on disability. Tough call.

great, now all of our players are going to start doing costume dress ups for movie premiers.

Mr. Benson
I know at my anti Montyism.

It certainly has to be an easier sales pitch to make now.

There was an additional office building built that is connected to the original building to house the office employees. The practice facility itself is being built adjacent to the offices on the other side of the team parking lots. With the way the construction has been going, it should be done by the beginning of free agency.
It will be a top of the line facility with many rehab amenities that no other team has. Couple this with being the only team on the same grounds as an NFL team should help sway some players into buying in.

So we are planning to keep Gordon.

Don't see us moving him anytime soon.

Just seen this on Fox 8. Jenn Hale said that Monty has free agents calling him to let him know they are available because of the new facility.

That's some good shite right there.
