For the past 17 years, pro-gun lobbyists and many concealed handgun permit instructors have taught permit holders they may carry pistols at parades and in restaurants that sell alcohol. But law enforcement officials in New Orleans and Baton Rouge disagree.
That's because law enforcement officials in Baton Rouge and New Orleans want the law to say something it doesn't say.

"We're going to enforce the criminal law," Robertson said Thursday. When asked what would happen if an officer knew a permit holder was carrying at a restaurant with alcohol or a parade, Stubbs said, "they could face criminal charges."
This is absolutely retarded. In what way does it make sense to say that your rights end when you walk into a Chili's and have a meal with your family or attend Thoth on a Sunday afternoon?

What's more ridiculous about it is that the parade lines are completely subjective. What if the parade crosses in front of your home and you just happen to be standing in the median armed and sober? Is that against the law?
I had heard if you are IN the parade, you shouldn't carry, but if you're not, it doesn't matter. Putting up temporary arbitrary lines is confusing and only out to hurt the law-abiding citizen. When has there ever been a story of a CC'er injuring someone at a parade? Oh that's right, NEVER, because they follow the law.
My CC class was taught by an attorney. He was very thorough with the laws and told us to use the "eye test" of whether or not to carry into an establishment. He said if it says "bar" then don't carry. But if it doesn't say "bar" then you should be just fine.
Placing all these ridiculous restrictions on the law abiding citizens who carry is just stupid. Leave us alone, is what I say.

This kind of statement upsets me. PRO-GUN LOBBYISTS are not certified by the LA State Police to serve as an instructor, nor are they involved in, teaching a concealed carry class. There's no reason to make that statement except to casually discredit the instructors and the curriculum.
