My worst fear is a rain out because I know we will beat their arse the next two games and I don't want to split the series 1-1 or something stupid.

Mainieri would look bad for starting his #3 pitcher while his #1 and #2 pitchers get rained out.

Meh, you cant play the series in fear of the weather. I like the Glenn vs their Ace.

Boss is out all day, hence my propensity to stroll in any time. Of course you get in a routine so even taking it slow I was still only 15 min late. Kind of disappointed in myself actually

So because Glenn gave up 1 earned run Mainieri looks bad for starting him?

Really? We have known the weather report for several days. It's supposed to rain all weekend. So I'd say that Mainieri took a gamble by throwing his #3 first, when you might get rained out of a game or two.

Mainieri's post-game interview he raved about Glenn's performance. He blamed this game solely on the offense. He also gave credit to he other pitcher of course for shutting down our offense, but he was very disappointed in the bats and of course committing 2 errors in the 7th.

No, he didn't. Nola has been the Friday starter all season.

Glenn gave up one earned run. Are you saying Nola would have thrown a shut out?

I know you hate Mainieri but you're just being silly this time.

I was stating that if we get rained out the last two games, then yes, Mainieri looks bad by leaving his best pitchers on the bench.

The much bigger gamble would have been to start Nola and have the game rained out after 2 or 3 innings. It worked out for A&M and they beat us with their ace. Now we hope both games are played and fight back for the series win. It doesn't behoove A&M not to play... wins help them more than losses hurt them at this point

And if he started Nola last night and the game gets called after a couple of innings, which almost happened, you'd be on here griping that Mainieri wasted Nola in a game that he knew might get rained out.

I don't hate Mainieri at all. But you are missing the point. If we get rained out from our last two games, it's dumb to leave your best two pitchers on the bench.

But hey, on your theory about facing good pitchers, we should never start Nola against the other team's ace considering we won't score any runs anyway.
