Instead of just picking my 7 favorite fighters, I'm going to pick people I think could work together, dead or alive (guys like Khal Drogo would not do well on a Kingsguard). I'm also picking guys who are reasonably current (although at least one will be dead).
**All picks in prime**
1. Lord Commander: Ned Stark - He seems like he was born for a position like this
2. Jon Snow - Would have no issue following Ned, has proven himself well with a sword a number of times, plus he's got Ghost which could come in handy
3. Sandor "The Hound" Cleagane - Yes he and Ned don't exactly see eye to eye, but as he has stated numerous times, he was just following orders. There may be some tension between them, but Ned is loyal and stern enough, and I think The Hound would be as well if he agreed to be on your Kingsguard
4. Grey Worm- You're going to want more than one guy with a good mind for batte strategy, Grey Worm lives war, and is extremely disciplined. Not to mention he is one hell of a fighter
5. Tormund Giantsbane- I'm not sure you could convince him to join a Westeros Kingsguard (unless Mance is king), but if he agreed to it Jon would be there to help keep him in line. He's definitely someone you would want on your side when it matters.
6. Brienne of Tarth- talk about loyal, she's also maybe one of the better fighters alive, and would constantly be overlooked. In an attack they'd probably send one of the weaker fighters after her and she would destroy them.
7. Thoros of Myr- He may be a drunk, but he's smart and he can bring me back from the dead, that would be enough for me...
I may not have all of the "best fighters", but I think these guys would work very well together

Yea well he's got Jon around to help keep him in line. And like I said if he's agreeing to join your kingsguard I think he'll take it seriously enough. Plus I really like him

Anyone putting Loras isn't getting the best Tyrell. Should be Garlan (with or without Renlys armor)

I didn't know you LARP CE.

I'd have Brynden Rivers as Hand
and Jaqen H'ghar as Master of Whisperers...between these nine, King's Landing is not the place in which to frick around.

Brynden "Blackfish" Tully
added to candidate list.

All you people picking Jaime, are you picking the guy who killed the king he was sworn to serve, or the guy who lost his sword hand and routinely gets his arse whipped by Ilyn Pane?

I think Jaime is inherently good as long as he's not around Cersei or Tywin.

The only role that Jaime would be good at would be Lord Commander because he does have pretty good leadership and strategy skills, but there are better options out there.

1) Ned Stark (Commander)
2) Arthur Dayne
3) Jaime
4) Oberyn
5) Bronn or Brienne
6) Barriston Selmy
7) Gregor Clegane
Hand - Bloodraven
Whispers - Varys
CTAW (Counter Terroism and Wetwork) - Jaqen
Assuming all will follow my orders and be loyal Kingsguard.
What's with all the Duncan the Tall? He lost every battle he went into.
