I read the first one once so I don't remember a lot about the end. I really did love book two, regardless. 3 times.

Don't get me wrong, I loved book two also. I've read most of Crichton's books multiple times, except for State of Fear. Not much of a fan.

If you've never read Timeline, you should get on that. Great book. Don't watch the movie though.

Malcolm actually dies in Jurassic Park. In the epilogue it states, "They did not even permit the burial of Hammond or Ian Malcolm." (Paperback p. 398)

But he survives in the movie, which is all that matters (for sequels).

No, Scruffy does not. He has the same feelings about JP3 as he does for the Star Wars prequels.

Apparently. Scruffy not impressed.

JP3 didn't bother me all that much because I thought the first two were marginal crap to begin with. JP was so much better as a kid. As an adult, it had so much more potential.

True. A couple of my problems with JP are the people they chose to save and those they chose to kill.

In the novel, Hammond gets straight up owned by a bunch of compies and Muldoon is the badass character he deserves to be. Kills multiple raptors and a T-rex.

I love the movie. I even kept my 2 VHS Collectors Edition for the first two movies. Got it in my closet. I just wish it would've been a little more true to the source material.

That sums it up pretty well.

Timeline is my favorite, followed close by Sphere and Lost World.

But I never wanted to see the movie for Timeline. Had no faith in it, especially after Paul Walker was cast.

Once Spielberg cast Richard Attenborough there was no way Hammond was going to be the bad guy. Muldoon got hosed however, but we got "clever girl" out of it.

I feel that most of the book that was cut for the movie would've really dragged down the pacing. I'll defer to Crichton since he also wrote the screenplay.

Great books, okay movies (except Timeline which I haven't seen but heard it sucked).

Also reminds me of stupidly giving away all my Crichton books in a white-elephant gift exchange when I was 15.

Did he do the screenplay for LW as well? Because that's what I thought they meant even they said he was rushed on it.

He was still pretty badass though. And the way he died was pretty awesome.

No David Koepp did (he was also the unlucky bastard eaten by the T-rex in the San Diego scene). They should've followed the book more closely there especially since the whole point of a second book was as a pretense to a movie sequel anyway.

I enjoyed movie 3. Lost World was so slow and bored me to tears. About the only part I did like was in San Diego.

Malcolm survived the first book

Not exactly:

Though he is declared dead at the end of the novel, in the sequel, he explains that the declaration was premature. Due to timely intervention by Costa Rican surgeons, he survives the ordeal, but ends up with a permanent leg injury, requiring a cane to walk.

It is what it is, but Jurassic Park is the only book I have ever read twice. I read it the first time in sixth grade, and didn't remember the ending that well. I read it again a few years ago, and had a WTF moment at the end.

Why is JP3 so hated? I didn't like that it was short and could see how some might not like that the kid survived on his own but besides that? And who cares that the Raptors had feathers. They said it was scientifically accurate anyway.

From what I remember, they really didn't have a script to work with........at all. A bunch of stuff was just borrowed from the first two books.

I liked it better than 2.

And I don't get why that's so hard to comprehend. They even reference in the movie that it was a miracle that he was alive, and I found it perfectly believable that he could scare the dinosaurs away with the scent of T-Rex piss. Hell, that part was more than believable for me.

Yea, that part is definitely believable. Its the getting the T-rex piss part that is just full of retarded, not to mention the fact that he even thought of doing that.

Another aspect that annoyed was the fact that they were constantly hunted down by that one dinosaur for no reason. At least in the other movies, they either happened upon the T-rex or the T-rex had a reason to search for them, i.e. taking the baby.

That dinosaur must have been a racist or something because he was relentless.

Reminds me of those douchebag tornadoes in Twister.

This. John Hammond died in the first book and made it into the second.
