quote:I believe so also, but they still have games to play this year and I think Vaccaro is more of a threat to Jenkins than Harper just because of the way Ryan uses the SS.
Personally, I think neither will be on the team next year.
That said, I believe all 3 will rotate(if Jenkins isn't cut for cap space) with Harper and Vaccaro getting the most snaps.

quote:I agree, but Jenkins absolutely knows that he didnt play at the level he should have last year. Each player knows that they can be replaced any given year if they play bad. I hope picking KennyVacarro makes both Jenkins and Harper focus more on what they need to do to get better. (I believe both will still be on team next year). So with that said, both jenkins and Harper know that if they dont show up and play well starting at training camp, they wont be on the field next year and possibly wont be on the team. Whether thats before the season starts, mid-season, or at the end of the season.
Its kinda of amazing to me that anyone on this defense wouldnt assume they are replaceable after feilding the worst defense in the history of the NFL last year.
And as Saints fans, we should hope that all 3 of our main safetys have a good year. There is plenty of room in our locker room for all 3 of those players because they all have talent and can contribute.

I say we start Vaccaro at FS and move Malcolm to nickel. Just my opinion.
I say we get him into a camp and see how these guys work in the system first...
Everything I have read, heard and seen from the coaches points towards Vaccaro playing the nickel and different roles in different packages this year and taking someone's starting position next year.
I say we trust the coaches.

Jenkins doesnt have a problem with it because it will make the TEAM better. More competition will push everybody in the secondary.
Where as reggie was more concerned with himself, and how drafting ingram would minimize his role.

Harper has a promising career ahead of him...for WWL.

Just one thing I'll say about Reggie is that he was already sharing time with Thomas plus whoever was our third back in whatever year.
When we drafted Ingram first round with Thomas and that third back(Ivory at that time) still on board it was pretty obvious to Reggie he would never be a feature back here which is what he wanted.
He didn't live up to his contract and knew he was playing out that last year as is(much like Harper next year). So at that point it was more him knowing the whole situation and what he wanted for himself and knew the best thing for him was to leave.
It was never because he thought he was getting cut or traded. It was all about his role. He wanted a bigger one and knew it wasn't happening here so he said goodbye.
With Jenkins, this is just one guy to share time with and he has been said to be versatile enough to play 3 spots(talking about Vaccaro). So while Jenkins will likely not be a full time starter he will still get a good amount of snaps(more than Reggie would have).

Jenkins played hard last year. I don't think that's the issue. He needed to tackle better and didn't need to be given the entire back end of the field to cover. He was good as a rookie in a limited role, did decent his next year and regressed under Spags. I want to see how he does and is used in RR's defense before we write him off.

I say we trade bofe of them for Eric Reid and a second.

Reggie would run Jenkins over.

Not really. How does one run through a whiffed tackle? What is the sound of one hand clapping?

Can't say it any better than that!
