That was going to happen anyway.
Are the 'Niner's moving there? I haven't kept up with it...

The stadium is fine. The parking and roads around the stadium are absolutely brutal.

There atudies that show it both ways. Forbes, who I would say is pretty reputable, says the answer lies somewhere in the middle, which would mean it does generate net revenue, just not as much as originally thought.

Locals felt betrayed by the Marlins and took it out on the dolphins
This is the biggest factor. Jeffrey Loria of the Marlins has poisoned the atmosphere for all professional teams in South Florida. Complete scumbag.

It was probably the worst possible time to ever ask for a stadium deal in the history of South Florida

After building the Heat 2 venues over the last 20 years, building that wasted stadium for the Marlins and with an already high tax rate, I am not surprised.
However with that being said, the Dolphins are super popular in FL and will eventually get what they want in either a renovated stadium or a new one.

They should rehab the marlins stadium into one more suitable for football. Ultimate slap in the face to Loria and co. Doubtful this can be done.
Sun life's location is horribly far from south beach downtown Miami.
But Last Jan, I thought the stadium was pretty decent. Not sure what they are looking to do.

Loria ought to be prosecuted for fraud. It's a freaking crime what he's done there.
And - i am so sick of hearing NFL teams threaten to move to LA to get what they want from the public governing entity. That's all LA is - a bargaining chip. Jacksonville, Miami, Minnesota, St. Louis, Oakland, San Fran, Carolina...New Orleans too...all have had that threat in the last seven years or so. Which pisses me off about the NFL.

It was built in the late 80s

Then the city of Miami can pay for it instead of the State of Florida.

Considering Lambeau, Arrowhead, Superdome, Soldier Field, Candlestick are MUCH older, it was warranted

I think huizenga dumped a bunch of money in for renovations to sun life before he sold it to Ross. There were some decent upgrades. But they are looking to put some major upgrades now. It's bad timing.
The threat to leave is a political move. The speaker promised the team the measure would be put up for a vote and then tabled it.
