I also quickly lose interest in games that require about 100 mods to make them enjoyable.

This. Just can't do Bethesda.

I liked skyrim but felt it was overrated a bit.
Combat was very meh.
I felt that Xenoblade was better but that's me.

I mean the ES games have always been about the character sticking it to the gods and kicking arse, so as I prepare to do that in Oblivion - Martin Septim jumps on a sword and becomes a giant firebird and hogs all the glory. It was totally not necessary, I could have sliced Mehrunes Dagons achilles with umbra but nooooooo

Meh its worse than oblivion and morrowind. Its still a great game tho.

Oblivion gates reallllllly take the game down a notch
They did get repetitive, but most of them were not required. And for all of the repetitiveness of the oblivion gates, the quests of the game overall were more varied and interesting. When you add in the lack of customization and inferior dlc expansions, Oblivion is the clear winner.

Like most open WRPG, great design, horrid execution.
Skyrim isn't bad though. I didn't like as much as I did Oblivion though.

Didn't really like Skyrim that much. I still think the best elder scrolls game is Morrowind.
As for rpgs that came out in 2011, I thought The Witcher 2 and Dark Souls were more fun than Skyrim.

I wouldn't say best ever but I like it.
Somehow skyrim went from the most anticipated to the cool game to hate on

skyrim felt unfinished
also, the developers pandered to xbox's money, so it became a game made for consoles, available on pc.
i think it's an excellent game, but felt unfinished.

Well yeah, but I wouldn't classify Witcher 2 in the same RPG category as Skyrim. From what I've read about Witcher 3, that would be a more apt comparison.
