Has anyone given this place a try yet? I have never been to a restaurant in that development, but I read an article in the paper a few months ago that made the joint sound promising.

Had the fried chicken opening day. Pretty darn good, but it had been sitting around a little while, bc it was warm, and not hot. I'd def go closer to open next time, and not mid day.

Corn muffin was by far the star of the show, very moist, not a dry part on it.

Gravy and cheddar fries were going to be the most phenominal dish by far, but they appeared to be microwaved to melt the cheese or heat the gravy. The friest were skin on, and very tasty, just not one crispy one in the batch. The cheese was GREAT, and gravy even better.

All VERY minor things for opening day. I will DEFINITELY go back!!!!!

I enjoyed it. Breast was a little bland, but dark meat was awesome. Sides and cornbread are legit.

Went last Saturday for lunch. Asked the waitress what she recommended, and she said the cheese logs appetizer and the chicken. I ordered both, along with the andouille sliders. When I asked her if the shrimp were N.O.-style bbq shrimp, she had no clue. She just said that they were cooked shrimp with bbq sauce on top. I declined. The sliders came out first. A link of andouille, split down the middle, served on a slider bun with lettuce, tomato, bacon, and bbq sauce. It was pretty good; tasted pretty much exactly what you'd expect it to taste like. The cheese logs came out next. They were huge, bigger than the ones at Sammy's. They were served with ranch, and when I requested marinara, I was told they didn't have any. I really didn't care for them... they were almost TOO big, and didn't pair well with the ranch. Next was the chicken, which was served with a cornbread muffin and a side (I chose sweet potato bread pudding.) The chicken was really disappointing; it was similar to Church's but it wasn't even as good. It was just meh. It actually reminded me of the chicken on the buffet at Golden Corral, or the Krispy Krunchy chicken some gas stations have. The muffin was dry to the point of being inedible. Probably the best thing I had was the sweet potato bread pudding... not sure if it was supposed to be a dessert, but it was offered as a side. It was good, but didn't come with any sort of sauce or anything. Overall I was really disappointed with the place. My wife saw a guy eating the blackened fish and said it looked good, but I'd prefer to get my chicken and seafood someplace else instead of returning here. Seems like it may satisfy the unseasoned college crowd, but for more discriminating palates such as myself, it's a flop IMO.

I'm a fried chicken connoisseur, so I take my fried chicken seriously. If someone says it's what they specialize in, I expect it to be good. This wasn't.

I know the owner's dad...good guy and an LSU employee. Hope the place finds it's niche.

Just had the fried chicken platter.. Dark meat for me, white for jones.
I got asiago cheese grits.. He got green bean casserole. Everything was great. Chicken had good flavor, green beans were fresh and awesome (no canned green bean crap) .. Cornbread was good too.

Prices were great for what you get too. Definitely will be back. I want to try the beer shakes.
