which all combined for 27th in the league for efficiency, congrats, lets keep this guy for life.

Hartley's career % is faulty cause he's not his career % for 5 years now, he's been bottom of the league % avg. It's like still employing Charles Grant in 2013 cause in 2008 he had 11 sacks.

His miss in gb was 48 yds

Any Hartley kick and I'm all messed up...

That gif makes me laugh every time I see it.

Huh, interesting. Shoot....great kickers are a dime a dozen, lets just go pick one up.

Thought it was originally 45 before the penalty. My mistake.
That's all I'm saying JPL. Not that we shouldn't replace him. It's is there someone to replace him. Carney was hovering around 80ish% before we dumped him and it lead to 2 awful years.
Find a replacement first, and then boot him.

thugs point of smaller number of tries carries some weight...
18 of 22 is 23rd in ranking. Making two of those though (20 of 22) would rank him 7th.
I'm not a Hartley apologist. I'm down for improvement whenever it can be had. In the light of so many changes this year kicker might be pretty low on the totem pole of priorities. Bring in Jasper or whoever and let them compete. The biggest issue is that it would cost more in cap than you would save cutting him this year. It is even more pronounced next year- will cost $500k to save $300K. For that fact, unless he stumbled bad in camp, kicker is likely a non issue for 2013.

Well a lot of the ones that top the Career % charts are young guys. Sometimes it takes a leap of faith on a talent without much history behind him. Not saying hartley sucks but if he's replacable with a cheaper talent who's his equal or possibly better, frick it.

how's that different from all the kickers in the league that had an oopsy miss.

Nah, I know. I agree with the fact that he's inconsistent. My a-hole tightens up every time he lines up for a kick. I'm just not sure that we can easily go out and find someone that is a whole lot better. Not saying impossible, since it seems that SP tries to always have another kicker in camp to "push" hartley, but at the same time, SP seems to dig the kid. Luckily for us, Drew says frick a fg and gets us 6's.
But yeah, it'd be nice to have at least a solid kicker.

it is no different, that is the point. Ya gotta look beyond statistical rankings. The #1 FG% kicker last year was waived by two teams before Washington picked him up in October. Do I want him over Hartley? No.
Hartley has a cap hit this year but it actually reduces in half for 2014 & 15

I posted this in another thread a few months back, but here's some food for thought. You all want high % FG kickers <40 yards right? those kicks should be "near" automatic.
he has a career 86% from under 40 yards. Personally, I'm more worried about those "easy" kicks he should be making that have costed us games. for comparison sake:
matt bryant has a 92.6% from under 40
connor barth has a 92.9%
gostkowski has a 90.5%
vinatieri has a 89.9%
janikowski has a 94.1%
jay feely has a 90.3%
akers has a 93.2%
kasay has a 93.7%
carney has a 90.8%
