BTW, just FYI to all the negative Nancy's out there, bitcoin finished the month of April up 43.4%, going from appox. $92 on April 1 to approx. $132 on April 30 (numbers taken from the blockchain.info chart).
Despite the April crash, it still performed pretty strongly overall. And it's currently up about 916.6% for the year to date. (approx. $12 on Jan 1 to current price of $122)
there are a couple of posters here who would have you believe that bitcoin is always going down. i don't know if they have an agenda or not, but it seems as if they might.

Name them. I haven't seen anyone say that.

I will never understand bitcoin. It's not tangible or backed with anything remotely tangible. Created to anonymously transfer money, yet not stable enough to do so effectively. I would think many of the original users have stopped using it as much because of the extreme volitilty of it. Most of the people buying and selling bitcoin just seem to be speculators who hope to use it as an investment, both short and long term, when it has lost it's original use and utility value.

The first two actions pretty much compel the last.

IBM
4/22 = $187.68
4/30 = $202.59
Difference= $14.89 X 1,450 shares = $21,590.50.
How much have you made on your vast btc holdings?

Man tries to survive a week in SF using only bitcoin:

I pass by a bike rental shop on my way there and poke my head in to ask if they accept Bitcoin. “Bit what?” says the clerk. I explain that it’s a digital currency and he shrugs, “I don’t even own a cell phone.”

Oh, I misunderstood. I thought your post was intended to compare the performance of an asset we actually put our money into. My bad.

So you admit bitcoins are an "asset" and not a scam? Cool.

Well, in fairness, the idea that its an asset doesn't prove that it's not a scam.
I'm not all that interested in buying mortgage back securities either.

You obviously don't comprehend the definition of "asset."
Cool.

When I finish a bowel movement I have produced an asset. Because the asset has no practical value, and a foul odor, I flush it down the toilet. Being an asset is no great accomplishment. Having value is what is important.
