quote:Negative. Just like it takes HOF NBA players to win championships, it more often than not requires a HOF caliber QB to win a Super Bowl. Numbers don't lie.
You're confusing correlation with causality.

Ali would have destroyed Tyson. He would have camped out in Tyson's head and wore him down.
19-y.o. Tyson was a machine. There was no "getting in his head" or "wearing him down"

Liston would've destroyed Tyson. And we know what happened when he fought Ali. In fact, pretty much everyone thought Liston was gonna kill Ali for the reason the Tyson fans cited. It didn't work. Ali was awesome.

Tyson would have tattooed Ali on the chin.

There's a reason why Tyson had a Nintendo game, and Ali didn't

Great teams win championships. And yes, great teams have great players, including at the QB position, but you're assigning too much value to it in hindsight.
How many QBs are in the HOF BECAUSE they have a ring? How many of those guys would not be in the HOF if they didn't have a ring?
Your argument becomes circular at that point. Super Bowl winners need a HOF QB, and a QB is HOF worthy by winning SBs...

You are the one making the argument circular.
Teams need a great QB in order to win Super Bowls (the vast majority of the time). Great QBs are rewarded after their careers by being voted into the HoF. That isn't curcular. That is one thing happens, and then another thing happens.

I'd say you're both right. You generally need a great QB to win a superbowl. But you could have a QB better than Manning and Brady put together who would never win a superbowl if his teammates couldn't get their jobs done. It wouldn't make him any worse than a superbowl winning QB, and superbowl winning QB's wouldn't have a right to call themselves more talented than him.
Don't tell that to ESPN, though.

The great Marino Paradox.

Troy Aikman is not a hall of fame QB without the rings from the Cowboys.

That sounds popular. Please ignore my post.

Ken Anderson should be in the Hall of Fame.
The only reason he isn't is because people put too much weight on the number of rings a player has.

Lawrence Taylor did not "revolutionize the linebacker position."
Rickey Jackson and Andre Tippett did the same things at the same time almost as well. They act like the Giants were the only team that came up with the idea of speed edge pass rushers.
If Jackson or Tippett played in New York City, they would have revolutionized the position.

Comparing players from different eras when trying the justify player A would dominate player B is idiotic (Ex. Ali vs Tyson; Lebron vs Jordan).

It really isn't. Otherwise, why are so many Super Bowls won by HOF QBs?
Because sheep like yourself go along with the other sheep and use championships as a barometer for QB greatness.
It isn't. And if you think it is, well...
...keep an eye out for that retard card. You're gonna wanna hang on to that.

Since Aikman put up rather pedestrian numbers, yep.
I'll put it this way: put Bobby Hebert on those teams and the Cowboys still win three Super Bowls.
Is Hebert a HOF QB?
