can't wait even though some of the songs aren't really traditional RRB songs.

I'm not a big fan of the direction they went with their last two albums, but I'll give it a listen for sure.

More great songs that will never make the radio.

bump. Can't let this off the first page. RR is a hell of a group.

Not to go all David Fricke on y'all, but I just gave the full album a spin and here's the initial reaction...

Those who were saying the record would be a Nashville-style departure from start to end were wrong...I was in this bunch initially after hearing One More Sad Song and Fuzzy. These days, you need a tune or two to bring the masses (who aren't in touch with TX country music) into the conversation...those two tracks accomplish that for that crowd.

But the majority of the tracks are what I would call traditional RRB tunes:

Goodbye Lonely
Speak of the Devil
Flash Flood
If I Had Another Heart
Don't Deserve You
Had to Give That Up Too

Once again, there's a Waylon-style track (in the key of D again, just like Wicked Ways and Last Last Chance) with Shotgun. I like Shotgun a little better since the beat changes up and doesn't get too close to the boring side.

The title track duet with Willie isn't my favorite but adds some depth by dropping to the F#m in the chorus...a subtle change that makes it better

The last track, Never Got Around To That is another regret song that'll take me a few more spins to get used to...

Overall, the record finished a lot better that I was imagining it would...in my book, it sits just below Rollercoaster and Burning the Day (I'm REALLY partial to that record), on par with Just a Matter of Time, and I like it better than the self-titled release...(and Cheatham St. isn't in the vote since it was a different lineup)

Hoe y'all enjoy it as much as I will at the beach in a couple weeks

(ETA: The chord in Trouble is actually an A-flat minor, but I was thinking F#m with Capo 2)
