What's funny?

He will make the team, and battle for a starting spot. The guy is a stud. I'm glad we have him.
He is a great pickup, and just adds even more depth at OLB

Thomas can play. He's very skilled with his hands and disengages from blockers well, has some pretty advanced pass rush moves for a college guy, and he's big enough to slide inside too.
He's not an explosive athlete, though, so that hurt him, but he can be a solid pro for sure.

Read his scouting report and after taking off the saints blinders sounds like Shanle 2.0 sorry folks I'm not as excited about him as you guys are
If you watched him play the only Shanle-esque thing about him is his completion.

Why do the dumbest threads get the most replies?
Posted on 4/28/13 at 12:55 pm to BarbeTiger
because people like to rake dumb people over the coals. If somebody makes a good point in the OP, the most people can say is...Good post, OK, or I agree.

Maybe ya need to read more...
If you're looking for a pro comparison, Thomas' game is similar to Chicago Bears rookie Shea McClellin and Packers outside linebacker Clay Matthews. Thomas is a dangerous edge rusher who has a knack for producing sack-fumbles. He is quick off the snap with good athleticism to dodge linemen and get to the quarterback.
Thomas is good in space, too. He does well dropping into coverage and is a solid pass defender. Thomas flows to the ball well and is a good tackler in run defense. He needs to improve his ability to shed blocks. That is his biggest weakness right now.
Like McClellin and Matthews, Thomas is extremely instinctive. He is around the ball and has a knack for producing big plays. Thomas should go to a 3-4 defense in the NFL. He would probably be a Sam (strongside) linebacker in a 4-3 defense. Thomas would be a quality defender in a 4-3, but his pass-rushing in a 3-4 defense is his greatest strength. He also has the flexibility to play some inside linebacker in the 3-4.
LINK
While not the 265 pound OLB that has become popular in many 34 defenses, Thomas is more than strong enough to be a force against run blocks and productive as a "bull rusher." His consistent ability to play with great intensity and aggressiveness on every snap enables him to constantly fight through blockers to make plays all over the field. Overall, I doubt that Thomas is going to be drafted as highly as I have him rated, but I have little doubt that he will become a highly productive starting outside linebacker in a 34 scheme. He reminds me of a more athletic version of the Ravens Paul Kruger and I believe he will be a better player than him. In addition, with his playing mentality he will also likely make an immediate impact playing on special teams.
LINK
His best attributes are his nose for the football and good read/react to developing plays. He can seal the edge and play contain really well. Lacks the size to really take on blockers and tries his best to extend his arms and turn the corner when pass rushing. Experience in coverage is limited and can hold down most short zones. Has a long way to go in man coverage, especially if up against an athletic tight end.
Thomas projects as a fourth round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft.
LINK
An aptly-named defender who earned All-American accolades as a junior (17.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks) with great hustle and instincts, Thomas displays potential as a starter for teams needing a strong-side linebacker or utility defender that plays on the line of scrimmage. His lack of length and athleticism handicap his ceiling, but he has been an ultra-productive defender on a good defense. If he fails to develop into a starter, he should at the very least be a capable backup linebacker and special teams player. He will likely be chosen on the second day of the draft.

Chase Thomas = Zach Thomas

The OP is correct.
This guy is about as athletic as Shanle and you should not expect much out of him.
He went undrafted for a very good reason.
32 teams did not get it wrong.
And it sure as hell won't make it as an OLB (way too slow).
He will have his best shot at WILB, but Reddick will beat him out for that spot on the roster.

You're right.
UDFA's never contribute anything of substance.
It really helps your argument that Arian Foster doesn't exist.
