Why exactly did my last thread on this get anchored? Make way for more LSU-Alabama scheduling conspiracy threads?
I knew other media outlets would run with the quote.....I also said it would reflect poorly on LSU.
I was promptly called a pansee

He said gay men were too sissy to play football. He took a shot at gay men.

I really hate this shite. It's all over the front page in the news all the time.
"Hey look, I'm gay"
Nobody gives a frick about your sexual orientation. Do I run around screaming I'm hetero? No. It's borderline attention whoring with all these athletes coming out saying they're gay. Don't come with the bullying crap either, is anyone holding a gun to their head? Being gay isn't going to change who you are so why come out with it if you're not comfortable?
Do I support gay people? You wouldn't see me carrying a sign for them down the road but I believe they should have equal rights as everyone else. I don't give a shite what someone does with their life. It's not for me to say how you should live. This is America, right?
Blue could've worded what he said better for sure. It came off as bigotry. However, I'm not going to give him shite over it. Just as I can respect a gay man living his life and having his own opinions, I'll do the same for Blue. Not everyone has to support gay people. That's the great thing about America.
Outstanding!

Blue was an idiot for making those remarks-regardless of his, my, yours, or anyone else's beliefs-when you are a public figure, you have to be able to control your thoughts/feelings because there will always be someone looking to make more of it than it is. It's the same thing as being asked about another coach, team, player during the season, you don't want to be spewing "bulletin board" material, in this case sentiments that reflect badly upon a team. Media relations should have offered some "advice" on how these guys should respond to social issue questions. I'm not faulting Blue for what he believes, I'm just saying this whole issue is thrown out there to attempt to stir up controversy & try to find that one kid who will probably say more than he should've & then the horse is out the barn & here comes all the other media outlets that will focus on this one statement. Public/media relations needs to do a better job of teaching these kids how to approach interviews.

LSU players and coaches should have politely told the Reveille no comment when questioned about this article.
No one knows what context these questions were asked.

@BenLoveTSD @rome_tdr in addition players were answering football related quest at post practice when this quest was asked out of the blue

@Rome_TDR @benlovetsd it might also be added that in true Reveille form they did not request any players that day while rest of media did

Someone asked him a question and he gave his honest opinion. Nothing wrong with that.
Posted on 4/19/13 at 3:15 pm to massiveattack
TBH, I think he has as much right to his opinion and ability to voice it as anyone that would have a differing opinion.
It still amazes me to this day that anyone who has an opinion against gay/lesbian/bisexuals is treated as if they are an evil person who is intolerant, ignorant, and should be scolded. Maybe he just doesn't like the thought of homosexuality. It's his opinion and his right. I don't see anything wrong with what he is saying.
At some point, it will be acceptable across the board for sports superstars to openly GLB, and at that point maybe opinions will change. However, as it stands now, none have the courage to come forward, so they shouldn't be mad when people on the other side of the fence speak their mind.
For the record, I am not a homophobe, anti-gay, etc. I have family members who are homosexual and I believe it is a life choice that people make. I don't agree with it, but it's their life, not mine and I treat them the same as anyone else in my family.
Blue is entitled to his opinion and shouldn't be ridiculed for it.

Annddd Blue shouldn't have said that, atleast as a member of the football team. At most he should've said no comment or that he doesnt think gay athletes would be very well accepted, and left it at that. Atleast not in the position that he is in, as an LSU football player.
There a lot of people in this thread arguing morals, and civil rights which has a place in this argument, but I think the issue here is with personal branding and professionalism.

They were just digging for something to cry about, and Blue took the bait by being honest.
Not that it's right for people to be uncomfortable about gay guys on their team, but what did they expect? This lady acts like a macho atmosphere on a football team is something that should be "fixed." Frick that.

Go Blue!
BTW, I have nothing against those males announcing to the world they like sex with other males, not to mention those that come out of the woodwork to defend and support them.
It's so chic.
