Licking Heights High baseball team routed Columbus (Oh.) Harvest Prep High by a final score of 65-0. The game was halted after three innings, by which point Licking Heights already had accumulated 48 hits, 13 walks and a troubling 11 hit batsmen.

The Hornets scored 16 runs in the first inning, 18 runs in the second and 31 in the third. Harvest Prep scored no runs at all.

wow the losing team must have had nobody pitching or fielding

The girls softball team got the baseball team's schedule. Throwing lobs to home plate explains everything

I think 34-0 should have been enough to invoke the skunk rule.

This doesn't really sound to crazy. stupid for the other coach not to forfeit early though. When I was in high school, we played Clinton, st Helena, Jackson (district games) and the games we sometimes stopped after it was 20-0 and we were pretty much getting out on our own. Some of the teams were just really bad. I felt bad for them

I can't even imagine a scenario where this could happen in baseball. People make what would be outs in BP before scoring 34 would be possible...

"We didn't run on passed balls; we didn't take extra bases or any of those kinds of things," Boyer said. "I even asked the umpire, 'What do you want us to do?'

48 hits + 13 walks + 11 hbp = 72 batters on base. 6 outs (since it was the 3rd inning) and 65 runs leaves ONE unaccounted for batter. So either 1 out in the 3rd, or 1 left on base when the umps finally called it.

Either they were smashing home runs left and right or the coach has a different definition of "taking extra bases" to end up with at most one player left on base.

But damn, how bad does that other team have to be? You'd figure even the worst team would accidentally get 3 outs before 31 runs were scored in an inning.

eta: possibly missing errors here though I'm sure the scorekeepers fell asleep after the first so there might not have been any

This is shameful to put a losing team thru this. There is no telling what the circumstances are for the losing team.

Well, no shite. If they did it wouldn't have ended up 65-0

It was mentioned that they offered to step on the plate but the umpire said he didn't want to make a travesty. Why didn't the coach just tell the players to swing and miss? I guess nobody wanted to do that, eh?

48 hits huh, it'd be cool to say you went 7-7 in 3 innings haha.
