We were supposed to be bad this season, so you can't blame him too much. But the team could be in a better position. In hindsight, I think there are 3 main moves I think he should have made or not made..
1. Accept the Houston trade for Gordon (Motie, Martin and 1st round pick). Basically the same trade OKC got for Harden. Gordon would be gone and the team would have gained a couple of nice pieces..
2. Not trade or let Jack or Landry go. This would include trading Ayon for Anderson. For the same money we are playing for Anderson, we could have kept the other 3.
3. Not move Ariza and Okafor in a salary dump. I didn't like either player, but they both play solid defense. Plus they would have been more attractive this season for other teams in a salary dump.
The team would have looked like this..
Vasquez/Jack/Roberts
Martin/Rivers
Aminu/Ariza/Miller
Davis/Landry/Ayon
Okafor/Motie/Smith
Just a tougher, more defensive team. Easier transition for Davis and Rivers, plus Vasquez and Aminu get the chance to shine.
This offseason, we would have two late lottery picks, not much cap space (which we probably won't use anyway), but nice trade pieces. Just a bit better foundation to build around Davis.

That's a horrid foundation

That would lead us to be a 40-45 win team for years
That would get us nowhere

The other three make a combined $3m more than Ryno, and Ryno is the best player of the lot. And Jack had nothing to do with Ryno, he was dealt after Anderson was on the team so as to free up space to take on Lopez.

No one even thought what Demps pulled off was possible. It was THAT good of a move.

Davis almost certainly wouldn't be on the team if we had made those moves.

This.

lol. What? That Houston trade was for Odom, Scola, Martin, and three farts in a brown paper bag.

Dude, I was Ayon's biggest fan, but this is dumb. Jack was horrible running a team. I got so tired of watching him dribbling as the shot clock expired. You don't need that kind of "leadership" around a young team. Jack is only marginally better than Gravy, if at all (I think not).

So, you're basically opinion that we should have screwed the rebuild to stay slightly worse than mediocre?

Really? We don't get Davis OR Rivers if we take the Houston trade.

You don't have Davis to build around.
