I really enjoy documentaries but I've never seen any of his work. What's a good one to start with? I'm leaning towards The Civil War.

I'm not crazy about the sport itself. Rarely watch it except for LSU and the MLB world series. Thanks though

I'd do one I haven't seen. If you haven't seen any, these are good starts:
Jazz (Lot's of NOLA history & culture)
Baseball
The National Parks: America's Best Idea
The Civil War
Prohibition
The War
Huey Long

Start at the very beginning - Lewis and Clark, it's a very good place to start.
Then the Civil War - It's his Magnum Opus.
In all honesty, The National Parks - America's Best Idea then fits perfectly after the Civil War...personal favorites as his best work.
Then Jazz,
Then the War...
and end with Baseball because it goes up to modern times and is lighter.

Not as sprawling and epic, but Unforgivable Blackness, the story of Jack Johnson should be on any Ken Burns watch list.

Probably gonna start with these in that order. I didn't know some of them existed so thank you
Is "The War" about WWI or WWII?

He needs to do one on Blues music

Some of it's done from diaries of soldiers and the soldier's families. To me it feels really personal because of that.
Some of it reminded me of the scene in Saving Private Ryan where the guys from the War Department go to tell Pvt. Ryan's mom about his brother's being killed.

Good call on the National Parks. It's my favorite of his. In all honesty they are all great, you really can't go wrong.

you literally cannot go wrong. if you like his straight up style, youll find any story he tells interesting.
