I loathe that album with everything I have and hope to God that I never hear any song off that album again. There are very few artists or albums I cannot listen too. This one however, tops my list of "Can't Stand". The worst part was it hung around being overplayed for more than 365 days. You literally(looking at you literallypolice) could not avoid any song off that album being played. I remember it being released around the fall of '87 and it started losing momentum until the summer of '88 when the most annoying fricking song ever recorded made it to No. 1. Pour some Sugar on Me.

Tell us how you really feel Cdawg.
I hate that song too by the way.
The album itself is ok. In my humble and worthless opinon.
That song is so putrid though, that I think its what causes you to hate the entire album. I rarely 'skip' songs when listening to songs, and that is one that I do.
It marked the beginning of the end of them making good music though. I can't stand anything they've put out since.

You have to admit, that shite got so overplayed that it makes you want to stomp kittens and slap old ladies. Believe it or not, I don't mind High and Dry or Pyromania. I can take hours of nails on a chalkboard over Hysteria.

It was overplayed after the first time it was played.

I liked these too growing up... by the time Hysteria came out, my musical taste had changed a lot...
It's always heard to discern between the crap hard rock bands of the 80s and the decent ones... so much was labeled heavy metal, hair metal... and most acted the part for marketing... most were crap... but if you strip some of the theatrics and crap production off, there were decent songs in there...
I still have people tell me AC/DC are heavy metal.... No, they are hard rock bluesy/bar band...

they remain an outstanding live act - I saw them in 2011 with Heart in New Orleans, they were as good they were 20 years previously.
I was at that concert as well and agree that they "rock, rocked till we dropped". However I will say that Heart was the better band that night hands down. Ann Wilson was sublime.
I also agree that "Women" was the best song on Hysteria. I suggest that it's one of the most underrated Def Leppard songs (along with "Gods of War".
"Photograph" is also my favorite Def Leppard song. It is a great video, and I think it started my obsession with Marilyn Monroe.
Rock on.

Actually my favorite song, period.

I can't say Heart was better - but they were outstanding as well - the current lineup is solid, but the band remains all about Ann and Nancy. I would have liked to see a crossover for a show like that - and a meaningful one like Collen coming out and playing the solo on Barracuda, or Ann coming out and doing a duet with Joe on Bringing on the Heartbreak.
I guess the rehearsal required would be a bit much, but that's really the only thing missing from the show.
That was as good a rock and roll show as I have seen. Journey and Def Leppard was a good combo a few years back, but that was before Pineda came on board.

I am right there with you!! I saw em at the Centroplex in '83 and I was a fan of theirs way back when I first heard On Through The Night, the album - not the song.
But once they released Hysteria they were very much an afterthought to me. Pure shite.
