Maybe a 3rd for an extra intake/exhaust, but you should be fine with just two. Most people overexaggerate on cooling needs
It also becomes a function of noise. Running more fans at a lower rpm is generally more quiet than fewer fans at a higher rpm. If someone's case is far away, or they always wear headphones, it doesn't matter much. But for those of us who keep their case on their desk less than three feet from our heads? I would like to keep the noise down

So I can get the B550 asus rog for $165. The same price as your medium option if that makes any difference
Link to the board you're talking about. Mobo nomenclature can get kind of fricky, so it's best to make sure everyone knows they are on the same page

It’s basically the same B550-F Strix board but without WiFi6/BT.
That’s a little overkill too but meh

Non airflow. I’ll look for a couple of fans on sale

here's the board on sale at new egg today. It's the nonwifi version which is fine with me
So, here's where the devil is in the details:
Your case has a front panel USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C port, but that motherboard only has USB 3.1 Gen 1. If you don't care, it's obviously not an issue. But if you do, that might be a deal breaker.

Have a friend who builds a lot of systems on the side offer me a cash + trade for a 3080.
I have a 5700 XT, and he's willing to trade the 3080 for that and $340 cash, seems like a no brainer really for me to get up to a 4k capable card like a 3080 and I will replacing my 1080p projector with a 4k one down the road (what my gaming computer is hooked up to).
I just have a basic reference design XFX 5700XT, the 3080 was shucked out an Alienware pre-built, never used. So it looks like this one. Certainly not a fancy 3080 but i could care less for the trade + cash im getting. Looking at people who have the alienware pre-built this came in, it runs around 70c while gaming which is plenty cool and should run a bit cooler than that in my Corsair 680x which has 3x120 intake, 1x120 exhaust and a 2x120 exhaust AIO, so airflow is definitely very good.

I've been building and upgrading PCs since 1986. I have never encountered a problem like I have with my new build.
Gigabyte Auros X570 mini-ITX MB
Ryzen 5600X CPU
G Skills Ripjaws 2 X 8 compatible RAM (it's on their list)
Zotac 3070
The PC powers up but I get nothing on the display. I've swapped the new 3070 into my 9900K build and it displays just fine. In fact, the image on my monitor is stunning with it installed.
I've done the Q-Flash to update BIOS and still no image on the monitor. It is connected via displayport.
All fans spin up but no post no display.

That’s a lot of troubleshooting possibility.
Is your gpu docked directly in or using a riser cable? When you tested it with the other system, did you use the same DP cable, or a different one?

He should try using 1 stick of ram too. Riser might not be 4.0 capable (most aren't).

My 6700xt is doing the same thing but I can’t get a display on any computer. It was on a riser mining. The system crashed and never came back on so I got to plugging and unplugging components while troubleshooting and long story short, I might’ve plugged in a riser backwards onto to the motherboard while troubleshooting. It’s weird though because I never got a reaction from doing so. Burning smell, smoke, capacitor pops, etc.
Contacted AMD and they suggested resetting the CMOS on the mobo. Didn’t work and I’m not exactly sure why it would’ve. Hopefully I can get it replaced because I’ve only had it for 3 weeks.
Lights and fans come on but nothing else.

GPU is directly mounted to the motherboard. I used the same cable to connect it to both PCs.

I'e tried one stick of RAM, swapped sticks and tried one stick in both A RAM locations.

See bluebarracuda, this is why I'll never own a board that doesn't have debug lights
I know it's super basic, but have you unplugged and plugged back in every single cable, both at the psu and at the component/board?
And are you super extra sure you flashed the correct bios? Before you said you used qflash, my first step was going to be to ask whether you had updated your bios to one that supported Zen 3.

going to be real hard to become profitable mining now

Riser cables are keyed, just like RAM. How can you possibly plug it in backwards?
And I mean that literally: I actually don't understand how this is physically possible

I flashed to the latest BIOS. I'm thinking about taking the BIOS down to F30 as that was the initial flash for the CPU. At this point I almost think it's the motherboard.
And I agree about no debug lights. I've wanted to build a mini-ITX build for a while so I knew there might be a compromise or two. One of which was getting a small enough video card and even then fitting the video card into the case.

You sound like you've done pretty much every reasonable troubleshooting step, which usually means motherboard is likely :/
Posted on 8/14/21 at 10:34 am to Joshjrn
Yeah. I've been assembling PCs for a long time. I've never encountered problems like this. My first AMD build too. Intel builds always worked perfectly.

Likely just bad luck. The days of AMD having shitty bios/drivers are long past. Unless you managed to damage one of the cpu pins during installation, there's nothing really unique about AMD that would be causing you issues.
With that said, to ask another bordering on insultingly mundane question: did you watch any videos on installing a cpu in the AM4 chipset?
