No worries. Yes, I've watched quite a few videos. No bent pins. I've also watched the videos on how to remove an AMD CPU from the cooler as it seems to be common for them (for lack of a better word) to fuse together.

Riser cables are keyed, just like RAM. How can you possibly plug it in backwards?
Risers use x1 plugs. They’re very easy to get backwards in an x16 slot if you’re not paying attention.

We must be talking about two different things.
My riser cable is the cat on the left:
What does yours look like?

Honest question: is there a reason you would drop an x16 card to x1 like that?
I’ve obviously heard of x4 and x1 devices, and I’ve heard of running GPUs x8, but this is an utterly new concept to me

Oh frick me…
Ok, yeah, just ignore me
Eta: Now I can completely see how you put it in backwards. Though I imagine you can see how I was confused as frick thinking you had managed to put a x16 riser in backwards

Have y’all ever used a GPU repair service?

Just throw it in the oven, you'll be fine.

i've seen people on YouTube do this. i don't trust it.

That's probably what that repair place is doing

let's hope not.
i did find Prime Tech Solutions in miami, but i wanted to see what this local place can do first. hopefully, they don't make it worse than it is.

Issue was a partially DOA motherboard. Now I can finish my build.

Intel unveils their GPU, will be branded under Intel Arc, releasing Q1 2022. LINK
Anybody else grabbing the new jersey?

Intel announced this morning that it would bundle its new high-performance graphics hardware, software, and services under a new 'Arc' brand, with the first discrete gaming graphics cards and new GPUs for notebooks coming to market in Q1 2022. The company also launched a new arc website with some additional info (not to be confused with its "Ark" spec site), along with some videos of its newest Alchemist GPU playing a few games.
The new Arc branding will persist across several generations of Intel's discrete GPUs, with the first graphics cards, previously known as 'DG2,' now codenamed Alchemist. Intel's first high-powered discrete gaming graphics cards will be based on Intel's Xe-HPG (High Performance Graphics) architecture. Future generations of Intel's discrete graphics cards will be named Battlemage, Celestial, and Druid.

I wonder what it hashes at.
Posted on 8/16/21 at 5:52 pm to finchmeister08
No telling, they're just mid range GPUs.

Looks like RDNA3 will debut displayport 2.0, would assume Nvidia too. Wonder if they even mess with HDMI2.1 with such little adoption, maybe for one more gen?
Probably our last one for quite some time, DP2.0 is 80Gbps (48Gbps hdmi21). Can run two 8K HDR 120Hz monitors at up to 30 bit color.

So, I've been toying around with the idea of getting a gaming PC to put in my living room for couch gaming. I was excited about the Steam Deck, but I want to game in 4k 30-60fps on a large tv.
Assuming (i) I'm not ready to undertake building my own, and (ii) price isn't really a concern, what do you guys think about the CORSAIR ONE a200 Compact Gaming PC?
I'd mainly be using it to played modded Soulsborne games and other modded RPGs. Do you think it'd be easy enough to just plug this thing into my TV with an HDMI cable, and then (presumably) use a wireless K/B to navigate when not using a controller?

Do you already have a main gaming PC?

Nope! Just consoles (PS5, PS4 Pro, PS4, One X, Series X, and Switch).
