It's smart to jump on that angle, I was waiting for someone to do it.
We're about to have Halo: Reach and MCC on Steam as well as Gears of War(s), Forza, and probably many others.
We all win.

I still think steam needs to rethink their profit sharing.

So reds if I want to carry harder and blues if I want to make arguing with my teammates a more pleasurable typing experience?

to me, that's a lot of freaking money. and it seems like y'all go through these components pretty quickly when upgrading. especially each year when the latest and greatest new item comes out. i get the impression that you guys are building 2-3 computers a year.
Not me, I'm still running a 4770k o/c to 4ghz and Radeon 7950 boost
But now building a new computer once all the new AMD stuff hits the market. IMO though spending a bit extra just means it will last that much longer.
I'm a very casual gamer, so I dont feel the need to upgrade my rig but maybe once every 5 years or so, and I usually just upgrade the whole thing unless I find a great deal on a graphics card along the way or something. That rig I have now is still very capable. I can easily game at 1080p using a Radeon 7950 boost.

That's why I bought my 8700K. It should last a very long time. Not to mention I got it for a steal at the time at $300.
I did so good with pricing on all my stuff that I'm not sure I'll match the price to performance for awhile.
8700k - 300
ASRock Extreme 4 - 80
G skill 3200Mhz 16GB - 140 (Def can get better than that now)
EVGA GTX 1080 FTW - 400
EVGA 650W Gold fully modular - 40
Meshify C case - 60
Intel 760P 500GB - 50
Toshiba 3TB - 50

Do I need to, and/or should I update my ASUS(390 chipset) motherboard BIOS before installing Windows 10? I have the Windows 10 iso, the BIOS update, LAN update, and WLAN updates on my thumb drive. This is a new build. TIA.

I would do a boot test to see if it boots first, and if it does, update the bios before installing windows.

Do you mean:
1) Turn on
2) Enter Bios
3) Check to make sure all components are registering first

Why 3200 RAM?

Yes.
Make sure your GPU, memory, hard drives, CPU, are all recognized properly.
My personal opinion on BIOS updates:
1) NEVER update the BIOS through windows.
2) Always update the bios before you install your OS.
3) If it isn't broke, don't fix it, meaning don't update your BIOS for the sake of getting the latest stuff, unless its severe bug/security issues. If your PC is working fine, don't frick with it.

Seems like that is almost the baseline ATM. It is almost harder to find slower RAM at times in the style you may want.
Useless yes, but for $5 bucks more why not.

Ryzen gets more out of the higher memory frequencies than the Intel chips do, but RAM is RAM. After 3200, it doesn't really matter imo.

Yes.. did I say something different?

You did mention useless

Well isn't anything useless in certain context?!
That did come off sharp. Didn't mean it that way though.

Saw DDR4 4800 at Microcenter for like $800. Yeesh.

Seems dumb when we'll have DDR5 late this year.
