ETA: also what normally makes a game more CPU hungry?
Physics mostly. Populated worlds, lots of explosions, anything with a large number of dynamic objects normally leaves the CPU to do all of that number crunching. That's why RTS and MMORPGs are historically more CPU-bound. And some games are just coded to use the CPU for certain things for whatever reason. Skyrim shadows rely on CPU, for example.

Anyone have a good recommendation for a desk? Mine is a tad too small and I've been wanting to get another monitor.
Speaking of monitors, should I get the same model as the one I have or does it matter if it's a different make?

No advice on the desk as mine is also small, but monitors don't need to be the same brand, size, or even resolution. I always buy one monitor at a time and demote my primary to secondary when I upgrade. Running a 27" QNIX 1440P IPS as primary, and a 27" ASUS 1080P TN as secondary.

I really like my Bush Business Furniture desks. I have the 48" corner desk with a 48" extension. They also make the extensions in 36", 60", and 72".

For the money they can't be beat IMO; I have the same exact desk in my office at work, and after 6 years it has literally zero wear. They are extremely durable and heavy as shite, I'll be using them to stand on when I put my new pictures on the wall behind them. They come in 12 different color combinations and literally take about 15 minutes to assemble; they only have like 6 pieces. They also have some nice cable management with the grommets in the top and sides, and cable trays underneath. Mine are the Hansen Cherry/Galaxy color combo.
I need a damn camera.

That's similar to my desk without the extension.

Im about to custom build me a desk to get exactly what I want out of one. That's after I build a utility trailer I am building to get exactly what I want.

Much appreciated. Maybe one of these days I can call it "done"....but I doubt it.

You are way too neat with your desk. My wife is always bitching at me to straighten mine up and it's in my office dammit!

That's pretty sweet, I have been looking for a new desk and I think you just sold me one. My dog will hate you because I will have to move her recliner to put it where I want.
In other news, something keeps disabling SLI on my rig, I was playing Tomb Raider and noticed my FPS was dropping into the 30's, ran 3DMark and sure enough I had to uninstall and re install the drivers again. I was trying to decide if I want to actually RMA the 970's but at this point it's no question.

I wonder if it's a problem with the latest drivers. I'm still on 347.25.

That's the driver I keep reverting to. I didn't install nVidia Experience this time to stop it from updating.

All fckking nVidia drivers have a disaster since 344.75 on 11-18-14. Even more so if you run any GK110 cards. My Tis and 780s systems can barely take an install, even after cleaning shtt in registry. The 980 runs okay, but also crashes randomly and isn't as stable globally.
Almost all nVidia drivers were stable during the Kepler era, ever since Maxwell's launch their drivers perform extremely poor with random out comes.

I almost have the same desk set up. A Bush Business 72 and 60 though. The 48s are a little too small IMO.
Old pic of main computer. Will take some new ones once we have a reason for upgrade.

Yea I almost went with a 60", but the 48" worked out just right for me. Thinking of moving my whole setup to another room though, and if I do I will probably add another 48" to the other side of the corner desk.
