Just picked up one of these. Overkill, yes. Do I need to worry about running out of power now? No.

I sold that shitty demon's souls game you were always babbling about
Posted on 8/10/14 at 6:39 pm to Mr Gardoki
Good because that game isn't for pussies. And you're clearly a pussy.

Also, this is my 10,000th post.

I'm like old black women. You can't handle my honesty. Or my sass.

So, the new R9's with the Tonga GPU will be called the R9-285: LINK /
Not sure I like the idea of a 2GB card with higher memory bandwidth. Capacity is starting to become pretty important, especially at 1440p and beyond, and a card at this level ought to be able to serve as a viable 1440p solution. Guess we'll see how it holds up against the 280x, and how overpriced the 4GB cards will be (if AIBs decide to make them). The good news is, 280 and 280x prices should fall soon. Which means I need to sell my 280x asap.

The specifications for the card include a 2 GB GDDR5 buffer running across a 256-bit bus interface. This is actually lower than Tahiti’s 3 GB GDDR5 VRAM and 384-bit bus but Tonga is rumored to include faster 7 GHz memory modules which will result in higher bandiwdth and card makers will have the option to launch 4 GB models later in production.

3770k and two 780ti Classifieds for now. 1000 Watt Seasonic was choking on the setup.

I'm not sure why any of us post on the Tech board. It's like people there are anti-expertise. I think I'm done with the home audio/video threads.

Anyone who made the jump from Win 7 to 8 -- did you do it as an upgrade or a clean install? I just got my shiny new 500GB EVO in the mail, was considering fricking around with 8.1 finally, but I have sooo much shite installed, and everything set just the way I want it, and really, really do not want to do a clean install. However, in the past, I know there have been hiccups associated with upgrades vs fresh installs, but I haven't done it upgrade-style in many years.
I weep for some, and want to strangle others.

Nope. I suck at the whole listing stuff for sale thing.

Oh, so I didn't know this, but in order to do an upgrade (the kind where I keep my programs) from 7 to 8.1, I have to do an upgrade from 7 to 8, then from 8 to 8.1. That is fricking retarded. Why am I even doing this...
