Hey guys, with our first match up against each other coming up this weekend, I thought I would stop by and welcome any of you who are planning on making the trip up this weekend and answer any questions you may have about the new kids on the block.
First off, I'd like to say how excited we are about being in the SEC. Long term, I think the consensus among Mizzou fans is that this move will be great for the program, but I think everyone is sure there will be some growing pains in the first few years.
Our team this year started out VERY slow, especially at the plate as we went 0-6 in first two series (@Southern Miss and @Memphis). Since then, we have gone 9-6 (2-4), though we have had 3 games snowed out, so we should have a couple more wins than we do.
Our bats started off terribly, but seem to be finally coming around a little, at least for the guys in the middle of the lineup. Our pitching has been a little better, at least as starters are concerned. Rob Zastryzny is our Friday night guy. He's a junior lefty with pretty good stuff as long as he can throw strikes. His numbers on the season don't look too impressive, but he is better than they indicate. Our Saturday guy is Brett Graves, a sophomore who has had some pretty good outings so far this year. Sunday will probably be our freshman 2nd round pick Alec Rash, who has looked very good to start his career.
As far as SEC play goes, I think we've performed about like I expected, though I did see someone earlier say we should have been swept by UT, and that isn't true at all. We had a lead going into the bottom of the 9th in the 2nd game before blowing the save and absolutely crushed them in the third game (14-6) so we could easily be sitting at 3-3 in the league. That said, I think this weekend will be much tougher than the past two and I'm just hoping we can steal a win.
I am definitely looking forward to this weekend, regardless of the outcome. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about our program, stadium, Columbia, etc.

What's the weather supposed to be like this weekend up there?

I hope not! We had 8 inches Sunday, but it has all been cleared off the field (they played a game yesterday and it was fine). It should be cool, and maybe a little rainy on Saturday, but I think *hope* the snow is done for the year.

I saw the low in the mid 40's we should be good.

I love how he broke their season up so their shitty record is easier to look at

About 50 and clear for the first pitch Friday night. High of 60 Saturday with a slight chance of rain. Sunday is up in the air as some forecasts have 61 and clear and others say 48 and cloudy, so we'll have to wait and see. And honestly, this is predicted to be the best weather weekend we have had all year.

Thanks for the post - not making the trip myself but I heard a good many people talking about going at the game last weekend. You should come down to BR next year if we play y'all - can pretty much guarantee it won't be cancelled for snow!

question, is MU planning on renovating their field anytime soon? Or has it been done recently?

Fairly average sized field LF=340, alleys=370, CF=400, RF=330.
The stadium is the smallest in the SEC. We set a regular season attendance record 2 weeks ago on Friday against USC with 3148 and the place was pretty packed. Capacity is about 3400 when they sell out all the standing room only tickets (that only happened once, during the regional we hosted back in '07).

When does Mizzou plan on not sucking at sports?

The AD definitely has plans to renovate in the next couple of years. They won't add a huge number of seats initially, but they will make some significant facilities improvements including some boxes down the left field line as well as a new locker room and coaches offices.
