When I bought, all brands were in play...from Shearwater on down. I'm not an OT baller by any means, but can hold my own. I met Keith Craft who owns Blazer and he introduced me to the guys he stole from Century b/f Yamaha closed them. For the money, I firmly believe you cannot beat a Blazer.

There was a lawsuit by Maverick against Blazer and ProLine- claiming they had splashed the 22' Pathfinder hull to create their 22' models.
It went to trial, ProLine and Blazer were found to not be at fault, but....the 22' Blazer hull and design is very, very close.
To agree with MeauxJeaux- you do get a lifetime warranty on the Blazer, but not on the Pathfinder-I don't know if that's still the case. I looked at them hard- the fit quality of the Pathfinder was better- rigging and electrical, but the warranty was important to me. I have seen cases where Blazer absolutely stands behind the product and will replace a older hull.
But, they do not build Blazers and Pathfinders in the same place if that's what you're wondering. I've been to the Blazer plant in Pensacola and that's all they make there.

he mad eta: btw, ranger bought out champion when the economy went down the shitter. it was rangers only competition as far a good heavy bay boat at a decent price. bay champs disappear. ranger bay price sky rockets. ranger win.
but im done with the dick measuring contest. its like arguing with someone saying xpress is the best bass boat on the water

That is more of what I was wondering. I have a PF and I didn't think they were exactly the same. The layout of the boat may be, but they are not manufactured by the same company.

I'm sorry, but this strategy from a business perspective would be laughable considering that Ranger's bass boat market is markedly larger than their bay market would ever be.
You can't really think that the other brands would just allow Ranger to charge what they want because Champion was no longer made? C'mon man.
Anyhow to shed truth to the matter, Ranger and Champion were both owned by Genmar prior to their bankruptcy. Platinum Equity bought all the Genmar assets and unloaded the presumably not or not very profitable ones...which in this case would have been Champion amongst others.
Maybe they were using too much fiberglass on that heavy arse thing.

Pathfinder for the shallow-ish stuff you'll do.
My boat was supposed to live its life in Lake Boudreaux, Wonder Lake, Cocodrie- then we bought a camp in Bay St. Louis- go figure.

Dont get me wrong i like blazer bays. I owned a 2220 fisherman w/ a 225 vmax and sold it for my shearwater. Blazer bay is a good boat BUT with that big motor on there it made all the hatches rattle at full throttle. Even chipped the gel coat off off some corners. Sure it was fast but unstable, would do upper 50's. Took a beating in the diversion and lake borgne with it.
If you're just fishing marsh its good for that. Outside waters would choose something else. And that's the same for my boat. It runs on pad just like a bass boat and on top of waves, not through them. But I got it for fishing the marsh in the winter because of its speed and agility and can go to nearer rigs in calm water and get out of there in a hurry if I need to.
Its all about what you want to do and think you will do in a boat. And of course the size and HP you're comfortable with.

I love the boat for the shallows- which is what I bought it for. Now we're considering selling for a 23' Pursuit DC or Grady White DC- the run across Mississippi Sound is brutal when it's choppy and I have kids now that still want to fish, but we ski more.

It's going to be a dual use, dual owner boat (me ant my pop). My parents like fishing in the marsh around the camp for reds, I like heading to the coast.
