Anybody plant anything this weekend? Just put in some chives, cilantro, parsley, basil, and some flowers for the Mrs. Don't have a garden yet...

I planted maters, squash, bell peppers, egg plant, broccoli, and cucumbers 2 weeks ago.

It's chopped and the rows are pulled up. Haven't planted anything yet

Got tomatoes on the vine already

Got my small two rows ready for maters, squash, eggplants, and cucumbers.
What variety of cucumbers you plant. Mine last year tasted like crap.

Burpless. They are my only crop that are struggling this year. I think I may have been too early.

Planting all heirloom seeds this year.

Hoping to do the same. A few different types of beans going in the ground this weekend. I think I'm bowing out on maters this year, with the amount of sun my yard gets they're just never gonna do that well.

Planted seeds last week. Got cucumbers and tomatoes up. No sign of the peppers, eggplants, or watermelons yet, but they'll be along shortly.

I didn't do seeds this year, I just got plants. My local nursery had a great deal on them. Since mine is just 8'x8' I figured it'd be easier. So far, so good, except for my cucumbers. I tried some miracle gro on them this morning, hopefully that helps. If not, ill just replant them. I probably should've mixed more cowshit in my soil, but oh well.

Just planted tomatoes and cucumbers so far.

If it's within two weeks of transplanting they're probably still just a little shocked. Plus it still gets kinda cold at night. Give it 3 weeks and they'll be climbing up the side of the house looking for a way in.

Yes very bitter

This could be the problem. Would a soaker hose work. Do they need water daily. That was my first year with anything other than tomatoes.

A soaker hose will work just fine. Also, how big did you let them get? Smaller cucumbers are a lot less likely to be bitter.
Posted on 3/17/13 at 6:06 pm to brmach
I picked them from really small to 10" long. All were bitter.

I added another 24' to my raised beds. I'll probably plant next weekend sometime.

I've planted sweet corn and a pair of twin better boy tomatoes so far... the cold last week had my tomatoes at a stand still but the last 3 days made them take off and put out their first blooms. The sweet corn just sprouted.
I'm not convinced we won't have another freeze yet here in Shreveport.

40 tomatoes, 20 or so peppers of different kinds, 2 60 ft rows of potatoes, about 40 cucumbers, dozen squash, dozen zucchini, assortment of silly stuff my daughter picked out (eggplant, watermelon, cantelopes, couple strawberry plants). Tomatoes went in about 2 weeks ago, everything else went in over the next 6-10 days or so.
