i was a freshman with Bert Jones. was standing in the longest line i'd ever seen by Allen Hall waiting to register when Bert and friends walked to the front and walked right on in and registered. one of the perks of being a BMOC.... :)

Yep, I was there 66-70 as a student. Back when all the freshmen boys had to wear their pajamas to the first game to go along with their shaved heads. Good times for sure!!

I was a freshman in 1964 and a season ticket holder since 1969. Three games that stand out when we still had just the lower bowl:
Lsu Notre Dame 1971
LSU/NOTRE DAME
LSU Ole Miss 1972
LSU/OLE MISS 1972
LSU USC 1979
LSU/USC

to this day, I have an aversion to waiting in lines unless there is no other choice, because of the long slow registration lines at LSU

Just using that term tongue in cheek, long before the Tiger Mafia Athletic Foundation took over the extortion racket that is todays' way of obtaining tickets, Cannon, while a player, would work during the summer and buy a section of seats, at face, during times, as you pointed out, that sellouts weren't common. As the Tigers became better, and more people wanted to see them, he would sell those tickets on game day. Presumably for a profit. Documented story.
Did he ride around selling the on his bike before the game?

Presumably had a partner in this venture. Enterprising, don't know if it violated any rules back in the day. Don't take my word for it, it's pretty easy to find. Google it.

watching LSU beat Ole Miss on the last play of the game with a Bert Jones TD pass! Anyone remember these years/games?
12 years old standing in the southeast corner endzone as this happened. Still the greatest play ever for me.

Saw several games in '67,'68,'69 in high school and college '70-74. Was in class with Bert Jones, knew him. Played basketball with him about 4 times. Had a best friend living in the unairconditioned stadium dorm rooms, slept there after 2 or 3 games. The SC game was one of them. Loved the loudness of the old stadium. Saw Bert Jones throw the Brad Davis pass against Ole Miss. Stadium went WILD. I was on the 15 yard line on the South end zone for that. In the '80's I got season tickets for 11 years in the West upper deck when it opened. Gave them up when my job took me to Ms..

I saw the LSU vs NC game in 47 or 48 when it was still a horseshoe stadium.
I lived in the stadium from 56-57 when it had no upper decks - saw every home game there from 56-59 seasons.
Have been back for selected games in ever configuration since then.
The student years were the very best.

Pretty sure the west upper deck was added in 1978. I know for sure it was there for the USC game in '79 cuz that's where I sat for that game!

Saw Tommy Casaanova run back 2 punt returns for TD and Craig Burns another and LSU beat Arcjhie Manning and Ole Miss the year before
Sat in the top row (before the East Upper Deck was put in place) for the LSU-USC game.
