if my house was on fire and i had to choose between my cast iron skillet and my cell phone, it would be a toss-up
i love my cast iron..been in the family for 100 years. when i come home and see the SO has left it in the sink filled with water and other dishes i cringe..immediately grab it..baby it back to life and lovingly hang it up.
whats your 'cant live without' utensil/dish/gadget?

My set of wooden spoons. They would go up in flames.

Your skillet should survive the fire
May have to reseason

My breakfast sandwhich maker. I would go hungry without it.

Now I'm scared. I was just ready to post this.
But as the thread clarified, "In the event of a fire", I knew that I would not be trying to drag my 48" Wolf out the door.
Guess I'd grab my insurance card and haul arse.

My grandmothers garlic press. Sentimental value and love the "disappearing" garlic in dishes.

Everything I really like would survive the fire. Cast iron, good knives, etc. should make it through. I guess I would grab a bottle of scotch to help console me.

Everything I own is replaceable, except for the memories.

The cast iron will still be there after the fire, it will just need re-seasoning mon frere. French knife.
