Mateen Cleaves is a darkhorse. I hated MSU during his run.

I agree. Nothing is token at Duke, or any other school. This thread is about jealousy of Duke, and the coverage they get because of their success.

Redick was a one-trick pony who was bitch-slapped by Garrett Temple.
Redick is still in the NBA being a quality player. Who saw that coming.

And about to land a 7-10mil a year deal.

At least as good an NBA career as Laettner. And Laettner was so much better than him in college.

Redick's coming into his prime now and has proved valuable, but Laettner was better early in his career. Even made an all-Start team one year

More so I like coach K.
I have grown to dislike him more personally as the years have gone by.
Why is he too good to do the TV interview with ESPN going into halftime of games? He makes his assistant do it because he refuses. I would love to see how that would play out if a SEC football coach pulled that on CBS.
K owes ESPN a debt of gratitude....that network helped make Duke what it is by putting them on TV every night, and he can't give them 60 seconds for an interview?

I don't think people hate Noah as much as they think Adam Morrison is a bitch for crying like a baby at the end of the UCLA game.
Edit: I don't hate Morrison but I think it was pathetic and a lot of people thought that was hysterical.
Morrison got a lot more hype before his NBA draft than Noah did though.
But Noah's NBA career just destroys Morrison's.

If people thought that JJ Redick was going match his college numbers in the pros, they probably should stop watching basketball. He was a great spot up jump shooter in college. Every NBA team needs a guy to stand in the corner and make jumpers. He can get 12 points fairly easily because he no longer commands tight defending like he received in college (see: Garrett Temple).
Compare this to his "rival" Adam Morrison, who could shoot fairly well, but was much more of a slasher and all-around scorer in college. Morrison couldn't sustain his game in the NBA because of this, and the fact that he doesn't subscribe to the norms of society, like personal hygiene.

Laettner
Wojo
Rivers (this is a stupid match-up)
Redick
Ewing
Doesn't mater, will easily lose to Ewing
Coleman
Miller
This whole bracket is full of reaches
Rose
Camby (who cares either way about Montross?
Are either Cleaves or Curley hated by anyone but rivals?
Iverson
Hansbrough
Devendorf
Morrison (People hate Walton?)
Noah (People hate Craft?)
Unsurprisingly, the list is dominated by white players because suburban white basketball fans love to hate white players
Laettner
Redick
Ewing
A Boring Reach
Rose
Iverson
Devendorf
Noah
Redick (younger people on the Internet)
Ewing
Iverson
Noah
Noah beats Redick. That's my guess for how it goes but I hate some of these match-ups. Morrison-Noah in Round 2? The entire 80s bracket is a reach. Half of the 90s guys are really hated by anyone.

Also, how the hell did no one from UNLV make it in? Bill fricking Curley, Eric Montross, and Mateen Cleaves but no one from UNLV?
Posted on 3/11/13 at 12:15 pm to Keys Open Doors
Larry Johnson's on there.

No Kentucky players is a minor upset for me. Don't know who is an obvious one though. Saul Smith maybe?
Posted on 3/11/13 at 12:19 pm to lsutigers1992
I was honestly surprised to not see Jamaal Magloire on there.
Saul wasn't good enough to be hated.

He's expanded his game beyond just jumpshooting, although I do agree not having the other team's best defender has enabled him to score

My bad. They completely wasted a Johnson-Iverson match-up in the first round with this idiotic Curley-Cleaves placement in the 3/6 spot.

Devendorf being stuck in the Hansbrough bracket is a tough beat. Hansbrough is the only person in the entire tournament that is a bigger piece of shite than Devendorf. I actively root for syracuse basketball and even I fricking hate the guy.

I can't believe that Dwayne Schintzius didn't make this list. Maybe the fact that he recently passed away kept Grantland from putting him on the list. I'm SEC biased, but I think the only guys who were hated more than him in the 90s were Dookies
