How many Lillard posters do you have in your room? You're bordering on man crush territory here.
Haha none, but he was my 2nd fav player in this past years draft and he's done better than I expected him to do. We were so close to getting him haha. But, people saying he can't improve or won't improve and isn't a top PG is annoying, when he is.

Play the man 33 minutes per game, and he's top 5 right now.

Hell, might even be top 3. Aren't many PFs I like over AD. I do like that Nikola Vucevic guy for Orlando. Putting up big #s in just his 2nd year I believe.
Wy Monty doesn't play him is beyond me. Either wants to tank and get a good pick or is a bad coach. Only time will tell.

your link lists the top minute-getters in the league....more minutes = more statistical contributions to the game.
I said "most"...listing two does not equal "not most".
...Parker shoots 38% from 3.
Lillard is #26 among qualified PGs in three-point percentage, anyway.
I don't know about all that....Most PGs that are good scorers have range--can shoot well from distance.
It's not as necessary for the uber-explosive Westbrooks/Roses or the exception or two, but for the most part, it's true.

Saying most PGs that score can knock down 3s is not true. Rondo can score, but can't make a 3. Tony Parker scores 21 a game but only makes 0.4 3s a game.

That's like saying any C or PF that is tall can rebound or block shots, they go hand in hand. And that's not true.

I like him too...I think he's a center. He needs to improve his defense/shot-blocking though.
Defense is what will set Davis apart from the other PFs very soon, imo.
Most of the top PFs suck on D...Davis is more of a Duncan/Garnett than a Griffin/Aldridge, etc.

Yea agree. I see him as a Duncan/ KG too. Actually I see a lot of similarities with him and Monroe but AD has a better outside game. So before we compare him to 2 1st ballot hall of famers haha. I see an Aldridge/ Monroe or a Duncan/ Monroe. Don't see that much of Griffin in him.
And my lists weren't top minute getters. Top players are usually top minute getters so that's that.
And I was saying just because your a G that scores doesn't mean you drain 3s. Derozan is averaging like 19 and I don't think he has made a 3 this year. Wade can't shoot from 3 either. And that's basically the same thing with having a tall C or PF and expecting him to dominate the boards and blocks. Doesn't mean it happens.

Ha most guys can do that in the NBA.

and he's top 5 right now.
I love Davis as much as the next guy, but let's be realistic here
Griffin
Love
Aldridge
Randolph
Ibaka
David Lee
Dirk
Josh Smith
Garnett, Duncan, and Bosh are playing C this year, but are sort of PFs, and they're ahead of him.
Davis is good, and may be great, but come on, top 5 right now? Not even close

I've just been surprised by the amount of them, along with his overall offensive game.

In March, AD is averaging 31 mpg and 17 points 12 rebounds. Next year...butts will bleed.

I see an Aldridge/ Monroe
Davis should be a much better defender than both of those guys...Aldridge is a pretty weak rebounder. They're both not very good shot-blockers.

Duncan/ KG
AD's rookie season has been better than Garnett's (both 19 years old).
...It's hard to compare to Duncan's rookie year or Garnetts sophomore season, because they both played 39 MPG.
quote:
And my lists weren't top minute getters. Top players are usually top minute getters so that's that.
Ya, but just because they're getting more minutes doesn't necessarily mean they're a more "total player"...If every player in the league played 36 MPG, I don't think Lillard would be that high on the list.
...He's basically tied at 2nd in the NBA in MPG.
Why is Lillard a more "total player" than Chris Paul?
quote:

Not PGs.
...Of the 30 starting PGs, 8 don't have career three-point percentages of 34.7+:
Westbrook, Parker, Rubio(still shaking off rust and getting better-shot 34% last season), Lin, Vasquez(36% in first full season as starter), Lowry(above 37% the last three seasons), Rose, and Wall.
...so 5 or 6 starting PGs that aren't good three-point shooters. Lillard's 26th in 3PT% among qualified PGs, so not elite in that department anyway.
Parker's the only great scoring PG who lacks extreme athleticism and who can't shoot the 3.

Griffin Love Aldridge Randolph Ibaka David Lee Dirk Josh Smith
...all play way more minutes than Davis.
Most of those guys suck on defense. That's gonna be a strength for Davis....1.1 steals and 1.8 blocks in 28 MPG.
Aldridge and Lee are shooting 18 and 15 times per game, respectively, in 37+ minutes...Give Davis more minutes and more shots/opportunities, and he's putting up big stats. Aldridge is overrated. Lee is having a great season, but he's a horrible defender.
Randolph
Griffin
Love
Lee
Davis
Smith
Dirk
Aldridge
Ibaka

I love Davis but you can't say he's better than those guys based on what he might do. That's like saying Drummond is one of the best centers in the league.
Aldridge has been a top 3 PF the last few years. Ibaka has made huge strides and may be the best in the bunch. Dirk and Smith have been doing it for years. Those 4 are better than everyone on your top list save Love and maybe Randolph.
