Each baseman will take a baseman's hat and place it in the dirt/on base before LSU is up to bat. What is the significance?

Girlfriends will be girlfriends. Sorry guys, I was to drunk to care at the time. She had some laughs at what you guys said. The original way she asked me the question I thought she was speaking spanish I was drunk and foolish enough to tell her to take it to the rant.
